I heard Jake tell his dad after he left the tent, “It’s not that bad.” He also said he was ok after the game and was walking on his own. I wonder if he will be ready against Nevada. I don’t think Jake did bad against SDSU and he greatly improved against Cal Poly. Having a run game helped a lot. It’s nice to have 3+ capable backs. Kaden came in ready to go! He did throw a gift directly to the chest of a Mustang that would have been ran back if it wasn’t dropped. He looked very capable and is a big threat running the ball. The QB situation will be interesting going forward.

That really sucks for Jake. I hope he recovers quickly. A friend of mine was mad that he played last season. He said that that caused him to have issues earlier than what he should have. But, he did have almost 10 months before he actually played, to recuperate, and the coaches did a really great job of protecting him throughout the season. So, really he didn't push it too badly by playing last season, and he did have an entire off season to make it stronger. In all actuality, and definitely take this with a grain of salt I'm not an orthopedic specialist, that time and his workouts might have saved him from another ACL injury, and kept it from being worse than what it could have ultimately been. Besides, the coaches might be able to get a red shirt for him since he has only played in two games. Depending on the surgery he could be back as early as Idaho, maybe even Northern Iowa. Thankfully we have a bye week.

Hate to see the injury to Jake. Hope he heals quickly and comes back ready to play.

From a team perspective I am confident in Jenks as well. He looked pretty good relieving Constantine against Cal Poly. I think he may even be a better QB eventually.

Going into 2018 they seemed about even in the QB competition. Both struggled early and there was not a clear choice for QB1 until Jenks was injured. He does seem more mobile than Jake and throws a pretty ball. I was a little surprised how nimble he looked this fall, in spring ball he did not look like he could plant and throw. I do suspect they will keep a more conservative game plan for the Nevada game and will not put Jenks in bad spots and risk another injury.

Hill and Co. aren't very open about injuries, but I would have to guess we'd see Constantine back by the conference opener at Idaho on Oct 5. That will have been four full weeks since getting injured, thanks in part to a bye week. I hate to see players lose their starting spots due to getting injured, but if Jenks comes in and plays really well against two quality opponents, we may not see Constantine automatically return to starting. Will be an interesting few weeks.
