Next in line for an Exit Interview is RB Jalynnee McGee of Skyview High School in Vancouver. McGee signed with the Portland State Vikings during the December Signing Period.
McGee carried 175 times for 1,282 yards and 28 touchdowns in just 11 games for the Storm in 2019, including a recording breaking night of 224 yards and six touchdowns vs Federal Way in a week ten playoff game.
Jalynnee McGee: Hayden Froeber, he was my position coach my junior and senior season. He always motivated me on and off the field, always checking in and since the age gap was only three years, everything he said really stuck with me.
Favorite music/artists?
JM: J Cole, he speaks on things that need to be addressed. His album KOD showcased the issue of kids on drugs and it was truly eye opening.
What kind of car do you drive?
JM: As of right now I do not have one, but as soon as the quarantine is over I’m going to get a Nissan 350z.
Favorite movie and why?
JM: Gridiron Gang, it really shows how football can lead people the right way. They turned people away from the life they had before going into the jail type facility.
What will you miss about the recruiting process?
JM: Definitely going to visit schools and looking at their campus. It was always nice seeing what places had to offer.
What won't you miss from the recruiting process?
JM: It was stressful not knowing whether I was going to be playing at a JUCO or a four year university, so I’m glad that it’s over.
What was an awkward or funny moment from the recruiting process?
JM: A funny moment was when I went on a visit to Portland State and one of the other recruits ran into a set of stairs while we were walking. He was okay, just had everyone laughing!
If there was one thing you would tell current high school football players, what would it be?
JM: Push to be the best in the classroom. Learning more than your peers can’t hurt you in any way and in the long run you'll accomplish great things.
What is your go-to meal?
JM: Cheesy sausage omelet and toast. Cheese and eggs are the most wonderful combination.
What do you want to major in?
JM: I want to major in business, I want to be able to run my own business and work for myself.
What is your dream job?
JM: I want to own a gym and train athletes of all levels personally.
What is something very few people know about you?
JM: That I don’t like watermelon, I just don’t agree with the fact that it's tasteless. Just water pushed into a fruit.
Toughest team you faced?
JM: Eastside Catholic my sophomore year.
Toughest player you faced in High School?
JM: Lincoln Victor, so fluid, agile, fast and just hard to get in front of.
