I've heard, through the grapevine, that Hill is interested in the BYU job. Of course, I don't think he has a chance to get said job, but would he leave for a coordinator position with the Cougars?

To me, no. He turned down a DC position offered him by his mentor Kyle Whittingham at the U, so why would he take a job at the Y unless it was the HC position? But it is interesting to think about. He is a good coach. Look what he has done in such a sort time here at Weber. I didn't think we would keep him for long, but I don't want to lose him so soon. There isn't anyone on that staff in a position to take over. Maybe Brent Myers, but that would be the only one.

Based on what we've heard out of Hill's mouth, I wouldn't think he'd leave for a coordinator position. I kinda doubt he'd be up for consideration anyway. My take is that if he's interested, it's Niumatalolo's job and I think his experience at Navy makes him a perfect fit for BYU. There's no reason to believe Niumatalolo would have ties and an interest in Hill, is there? Hill's doing a great job fixing this program but, seriously, Weber deserves a break-- Hill needs to do something special at Weber before we loose yet another coach.

AGREE, HILL GOING NOWHERE< STILL WORK TO DO AT WSU, not to mention he would have to take a pay cut to go to BYU as a coordinator, not going to happen

I don't think it would be that big of pay cut, but I agree that Hill isn't going anywhere even though it could be tempting if Sitake gets hired.

And it's looking like 2nd choice Sitake is the new coach, all but officially confirmed according to KSL Sports...reported that he is beginning to form a staff...so hold on! It just seems a incomplete job right now as to Coach Hill, maybe another year or two at least of progress then if successful he's as good as gone when the right opportunity knocks. :twocents:

Sitake officially announced as new coach, now let's see who he picks for his staff.

12/27: Appears that Coach Hill isn't joining up with BYU, but interesting, according to Brett Hein @ SE, that Coach Sitake did name SUU's HC Lamb to his staff as assistant head coach (along with hiring former BYU QB Ty Detmer as OC & Ilaisa Tuiaki as DC). SUU named DC Demario Warren as interim HC (darn it...should have brought Steve Clark back!).

I guess it's gonna be a wait and see thing, but it sure seems like Sitake's assembling a great staff at BYU. I think Hill is following similar footsteps in Ogden as Lamb has in Cedar City. I hope, at least, that if/when Hill leaves the program will be on top and the community support will be as strong as it ever has been. I was annoyed, yet impressed, at the number of SUU fans that traveled to Ogden this past season-- not something I remember from past years. I was annoyed that the Davis LB chose SUU over WSU and he was rewarded as a part of a nice transformation in Cedar City. I hope Hill/WSU is only a few steps behind the same type of change here in O-Town, I believe he/they are.

“I don’t remember word-for-word, but he wanted to come to a small town and change the football program and make the community a football community,” said Tagliaferri, a former SUU linebacker and fullback, reflecting on that moment. “He’s done that. I was there before he got there and there was nothing said about that town. Years later, it has completely changed.”

Just a side note, Coach Hill's old job @ Utah is now open, as last season's Ute's DC retired (was planned anyway as a short stint) & Morgan Scalley (?) who was the coach in Hill's assignment position has been promoted.

Not that it has anything to do with Jay Hill, but it seems with the Utah football staff yearly musical chairs routine, there likely would be a place for him to return in case things don't work out down the road. Not likely to happen as Coach Hill seems destined to continue to rise as a HC. :thumb:
