From what I've been able to gather, she is a true, back-to-the-basket post player. If she can earn starter's minutes by the conference season and Vella, who is more comfortable facing the basket, can step out to the four, the Bengals will match up much better with the bigger teams in the league, like Montana and MSU. Hopefully we'll see continued development by Jessica Jensen and Cydney Horton, giving the Bengals a lot more depth upfront.
Another benefit from Jeppesen's signing is that it should eventually allow Chelsea Pickering to move to the 3 spot on a more regular basis. The Bengals had a hard time beating the zones of bigger teams like Montana because, not only were they smaller in the post, but ISU was outsized considerably at the wings and they committed a lot of turnovers trying to throw the ball over taller defenders. With Pickering and Reed, both at 5-9, on the wings, it should ease some of those mismatches. And ISU will have a ton of depth at the 1-2-3 spots, with the three freshmen from Washington coming in and Abyee Maracigan healthy.
Another key to success will be how quickly Jeppesen and the new coaching staff pick up Seton's motion offense. There is usually an adjustment period in learning any new system, and Seton's is fairly unique.
Should be a lot of fun following the Bengals next year -- I'm really looking forward to it.
