Sherritt, earns his first Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award following a record-setting season in Edmonton, as the linebacker racked up 130 tackles to break Calvin Tiggle’s all-time single-season mark.
He accomplished the feat in the final game of the regular season, needing 11 to beat Tiggle's 18-year-old mark. The 24-year-old also collected three sacks and racked up five interceptions, good enough for second most in the league.
“It’s an honour, I don’t want to act like it’s not nothing to me, but it’s all about a ring," said Sherritt. "Especially Edmonton, every time I walk in, I see the Grey Cup banners. Those teams and those guys, they live forever.
"They’re Grey Cup Champions, and that’s something that I’ve always been about, is championships, and I’ll continue to be that way.”
