Is there anyone that can challenge him for BSC ROY? I mean, the kid has to be the best Freshman in the conference? Catcat, can you run some numbers and see how many points he will need to become all-time leading scorer in WSU history? Can he do it? How many points does he ned to average to do it? He is one of only a couple to start as a freshman, and he should be able to start every game this year...... :thumb: I love watching him play.....

Here's some nice pub for Davion Berry. Good to see KSL give him some attention. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=28527955&nid=1153&title=weber-hoops-star-overcomes-adversity-to-become-great&fm=home_page&s_cid=queue-6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Especially since they must still be butt-hurt over the (seeming) Jimmer bust, after all but ignoring Weber State NBA All-Star (I like the sound of that) Damian Lillard for four years.

Jeremy has a chance to be one of the best. He is very smart, works hard, is athletically talented, and has the IT factor. He will be even better next year and every year that he is here. We are athletic this year, but even more so next year. :thumb: :thumb:

Senglin is up there for sure, and probably the favorite right now. But there are definitely some others that are really solid too...

In particular, Jordan Wilson from Northern Colorado, Mario Dunn from Montana (he seems to be getting more and more minutes), and Ognjen Miljkovic of Eastern Washington are all producing at a pretty high level. With 10 games left, all those guys I would say are pretty solid challengers depending on how they and their teams do down the stretch.

Senglin vs. Wilson was pretty fun to watch on Saturday night. Wilson is a speedy guard who can get to the basket and does a really good job of creating havoc for opposing teams defense. Senglin on the other side was hitting his threes and playing great defense. One thing, and it hasn't been needed that much from him, is that Senglin has kinda gone away from his ability to drive to the basket and hit the mid-range jumper. But those are both weapons in his arsenal that he can pull out at anytime. He has made some fairly acrobatic layups this year. He had one against MSU that was unreal. Senglin won the battle on Saturday night.

I don't see Ognjen Miljkovic getting the FOY because he missed so much. Yet, he is quite the player. I keep trying to think why Eastern isn't doing better than they are with their talent, but then I remember that their starting five are pretty young, with the exception of Parker "throwing elbows" Kelly.

The (SELF-PROCLAIMED) Turkish Mamba is another player who has the potential to be the FOY, but I think Senglin and Wilson are on another level right now. He is going to be really good though, even though you never should give yourself your nickname.

Weber's two other Freshman should be making the Sky shudder. Gittens and Hill are only going to get better and right now they are proficient players. And then there is Fuller who isn't going anywhere. Yes, he doesn't get any mins because there is a logjam at the 3 and 4, but he will in the future. I dare you to tell me who works harder than him? He is barely getting his legs back and finding his shot. He has huge upswing, which we aren't able to see because the Cats are really deep, balanced, and talented.

He comes off screens like Bamforth did, and has just as quick of release behind the arc, I really believe he is just as good a shooter as Bamforth. Hopefully he puts in the time like Scott did.

5 for 7 are Bamforth numbers! Couple of times Saturday night I could have sworn I was seeing Bamforth out there.

I personally believe that Jeremy can be the next WSU great. He has all the tools to succeed in this league. In a couple of years, no doubt he will be getting MVP awards at the end of the season. Weberski is right, he did look like Bam out there during Saturdays game. I also think he has a chance to catch Dame and Bruce on the all-time scoring list. Call me crazy, but I really think he can do it, assuming he doesnt pull a Lillard and declare early for the NBA draft... ;-)

Senglin is currently averaging 11.2 ppg
He has made 35/91 3-pointers to date.

Watch for his numbers to sky rocket...

In comparing both Lillard and Senglin, its creepy to compare freshman campaigns. Dame finished his freshman year averaging 11.5 ppg, I think Senglin can top that mark with our remaining games. He will need to begin averaging 15-22 ppg to catch Lillard though in years to come. With J-rich and Dev gone next year, he will get more touches and shots. Lillard also ended his freshman year shooting 49/131 from downtown. I think Senglin will pass his mark of 49. :notworthy:

I think if Lillard got the nod for FOY in 08/09, Jeremy should also get the nod this season too. Especially with his running the show with a championship caliber team..... :thumb:

Jeremy's numbers will surely increase next year. That will happen with all of our youngsters. Jeremy has a long, long way to go before we can start talking about a potential pro career. He has that potential, but he is no where close right now. It will take a lot of hard work between he and our coaches. He seems to have the right attitude and that is a big part of it. He will need to become comfortable running the point. He is too small to be an NBA shooting guard. :coffee:

Although I don't doubt the "Sky's" the limit for Senglin, I do worry about potential setback next season as Weber has experienced this season. I see the talent and growth of Bolomboy, Hill and even Gittens (albeit not as fast/much.) I realize on paper we have more big talent coming in next season, but the adjustment of those new faces and the loss of Tres, JR, and especially Berry could very well cause another stretch of time to get things figured out and the players gelling as they finally seem to be this season.

Additionally, it's hard to imagine (right now) that Senglin will be able to "ride" those kinds of changes to the team and create for himself or be as consistent as Dame was. In addition to Lillard's work ethic, his consistency and ability to carry the team offensively was what made him so much more special than other talents in the league. Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt it's possible for Senglin and I really hope for Weber's sake he can be that good, I'm just not sure I believe it quite yet.

I'm with you in part on this SW. Next year could be a down year for Weber. Not sure where the points are going to come from what with Berry, Tresnak, and Richardson graduating. Much may depend on how well Bolomboy and Hill develop their offensive games between now and then. Hopefully there is a JC transfer waiting to come to Weber who can fill the 2 or 3 and provide 15 or so a game.
But if the setback we have next year is, as you put it, like the one we experienced this year, I'll take it in a heart beat. 10-2 in conference with a 3 game lead and 8 games to play. I know you are very concerned about the in-state and non-conference games, but to me they are icing. I can live with 1-5 OOC and 15-5 in conference. Would I like 5-1 OOC and 15-5 in conference, sure. But what matters is the conference. Always will for BSC teams.

I'll admit it...I'm worried about next season and wondering where the offense will come from. However, Weber does have two three star guys (I really think Braxton is getting hosed on a star too...he has made himself into a 4 star recruit, but I'm a Weber homer sooo. ;)) and Jeremiah Jefferson joining the team. Along with a guy who has spent a year in our program and is 7' (Ryan Van Pelt), one of the top outside shooters in the nation in Ryan Richardson (he is a bit thin, but reminds me a lot of Daviin Davis except can shoot), and a solid PG prospect in Hayden Hunter coming in next season. Out of those guys and the guys we have, I'm feeling pretty good about our offensive production. Senglin, Hill, Gittens, Bolomboy will only get better, and are showing us how much talent and potential they each have. Gittens was slated to red shirt before the season and is a major contributor. Bolomboy is getting a lot better offensively and we know his defensive abilities. Hill same thing...and Senglin!!

Do I think Weber needs an impact JC?? Sure...would the Cats survive without one, yes. Would it be tough? YES. But the Cats could still steal the conference with the talent coming in. Hayden Hunter and Ryan Richardson will probably redshirt, and would to their benefit. Hunter may have a hard time getting mins, especially with McKay Cannon returning the following year (Weber's version of JC Carrol).

I really hope Josh Fuller stays and ends up getting some mins next season. We desperately need his leadership. I'm pretty sure coach was honest with him about this season, that he wouldn't get a lot of time. Yet, he should get at least 5 or 10 a game next year.

Not worried about next year. Berry will be missed, but so was Lillard, Bamforth, Otis, etc.

Between the strong development of the youngsters, strong incoming talent, & a possible juco we'll be more than ayight!

The rest of our conference could only dream of Weber's roster.

Senglin will develop nicely. The key player that we need to work hard and step up his offensive game is Gittens. He already has great defensive tools and can get to the rim. If he develops a good jumper, WATCH OUT!. We will be fine next year. I think that Gelaun leaving will really be a positive for us next year. We have an extra spot for a JC. I am not sure how the chemistry with youngsters would be if he was still here. We have 3 freshman that have really contributed and started the development process.
