So Draft Express has Joel ranked as the 95th best Sophomore. in the Country. What do you think his ranking will be at the end of the season?

My guess is 40.

Yikes!! I don't want to think about it, but if Joel is at 40 there is a great chance he could get drafted by the end of his Jr, year. We all know it is a possibility. So, we might as well just enjoy what he brings to the team now and see where he ends up in the future. So awesome having him at Weber!

I don't think 40, just because of the fact Weber State is a smaller school and in a smaller conference. So even if he is putting up better numbers then other players he will still be ranked lower. Also, you have to figure the softmore's ahead of him are improving now as well, not just based on him improving. I also don't think until he has a solid inside game on offense he will go up that high. When Tres leaves and more is put on his shoulders to do stuff on offense that's when we could see him really sky rocket.

You very well could be right. But lets suppose that Tres & Joel can both stay on the court for 30 minutes per night. Teams are not going to be able to block both of these beasts out at the same time. I think his rebound and block numbers go up a lot. I see Joel getting a good number of touches offensively each night. I think he will look good in the metrics. I think where he sky rockets is on a national stage in the NCAA tournament against solid competition. Teams are going to have to pick their poison against our bigs and that is going to free up the other to have some clean looks. I think Gittens, Joel and Tres is going to be a fun defensive line up in the paint.

I may be dead wrong but I really think we just saw the tip of the ice berg last year. Joel seems to want it so I really think the skys the limit.

i think we need to here from the inhouse nba expert about this. what say u mr cheeserton? who are the top nba prospects currently in the big sky if any?

trez? berry? jamar? troy? joel?

Pretty sweet so see Berry up that high as well. It wouldn't shock me if we had multiple Wildcats starting in the NBA within few years. They just have to want it as much as Lillard did!

I see the Bery was like 54th in the Senior category, no other weber state players from what I saw.

Berry at 54?? Very cool. I'm thinking by the end of the season he will be a legitimate 2nd round draftee or even a possible late first rounder. He has really worked hard this off season and improved his overall game. I'm thinking he would be a possible 2 in the league. A SF would be a stretch for Berry. Where is Cheesus the NBA expert? Berry has a chance. Where was Montana's Jamaar?

I see Berry at #55. Say happy birthday to him if you see him today. :birth:
And Troy Huff (UND) picked up #59 on that same list.
Jamar is "missing"? It may not be an accident.

I shouldn't troll and give eGrizzers something new to whine about, but your Jamar comment still put a fat grin on my face. 8-)

The intriguing thing about Joel is that we are just scratching the surface on his potential. Right now, he is far better than he was last year, and he is getting stronger and better every day. He will be an absolute monster this year, but will still only be half way to the culmination of his college level development. Every day he is getting better. It will be quite interesting to see what the rest of the BSC will do to try and stop our post game. Also, if teams do try to double down with their guards, our guards will light them up. :thumb: :thumb:

I've gained 5 since last year. I've taken up pumping iron. I haven't been able to run for a while, due to health issues. I'll be back to running soon and the pounds will melt off. I wish I had Joel's problem of needing to gain weight.

Joel is now ranked the 61st best Junior according to Draft Express.
That doesn't get you drafted in the first round! He's going to need an off the charts season! its possible, but not probable. He's going to be a great power forward for a NBA team if he improves his offense.

Does this change hourly or am I looking at the wrong thing? I see him listed at 42.

I know these types of rankings don't mean a lot and many of these schools have FR & SO consistently entering the NBA but it's still fun to see the comparison and it's better than not being in the mix at all.
Schools with JR players ranked higher (Weber is in pretty good company here!)
