John L. Smith is Coming Back!!!

Sorry for the troll, I am a Razorback fan who currently lives in Washington. I am torn on this hire - excited for a seasoned interim at Arkansas, but bummed for you all. My good friend, Jody Sears, is, of course, your DC. I think he'd make a great HC - but I am biased!

Welcome to our board erlock, we are pretty upset here, not that he left (heck we are Weber State coaches leave here for greener pastures all the time) its just when and how he left that really get our dander up, a guy preaching loyalty ditches as soon as another job opens up.

I don't blame John L for jumping at an oportunity like that. I wish him well in Arkansaw. I'm a little bummed that he is leaving just as we were getting to know him, but we'll be OK. I think that Sears would make a great interim coach, as would some others on our staff. One good thing is that Smith isn't taking anyone with him. That leaves us with a good foundation. We, now, just need to sellect a leader. The sky is not falling. :thumb:

I am going to have to respectfully disagree here, I hope John L. falls flat on his A$$, sod him and his damn horse he rode in on. That Jack A$$ better NEVER set foot in this great state of ours ever again. BURN IN HELL JOHN L!!

Welcome erlock. Good to have ya stop by. Yeah, it has been a rather interesting couple of days here in Ogden, but we will survive! Anyway, have you talked to Coach Sears about the situation? If so, how does he feel?

I was really impressed with the defense at the spring game and how they had improved so drastically in such a short time. I think Sears had a lot to do with that and I feel he would be an excellent HC. I like Hammer, but I don't feel like he is ready to be an HC yet. However, he is a solid OC, and with Sears leading the defense, I feel the two could put together quite the team this fall. Whatever happens, I hope they both stay put. After losing the HC, it would be almost devestating to lose either coordinator or any other position coaches.

Actually I still don't know who/where you are. I know we stole your coach so I came to make fun of you. Seriously though, I am curious now. What state are you in? Where is the "Big Sky"

Good comment. Smith's contract says he has to keep our current staff intact. You probably know that, but just for added emotional security for you.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that. Why would he want to come back?
