Mac asked for his last year on his contract back after the NAU game, but was denied by Bovee. I know that Aaron Rodderick was approached before Smith, but he turned it down to continue coaching at Utah as a position coach. He needed more $$$ supposedly. Maybe he thought he was a shoe in for the OC job, but didn't expect to be passed over by Johnson.
