Josh Fuller transferring

I saw this on the list of 2014 transfers. Its in alphabetical order and Josh is listed. Josh seems like a great guy and teammate. I hope he lands somewhere where he can get lots of playing time. Best of luck to him.

I really liked this young man. I just hope that he doesn't end up kicking our butts, for three years at another BSC school. I think he is going to be a star for someone. I don't disagree with his choice to get more playing time. It was clear that he would be behind a couple of other players for the next few years.

Good luck to you Josh, where ever you go.

Good luck to Josh, but you're going to continue to see some transfers as Randy and the coaches continue to raise our talent level. I don't see Josh being a threat. I do think getting minutes in the future is going to be tough at Weber so he made the right decision.

One of the difficult adult conversations as you look to build a winning program! It's never fun!

Here is a list of transfers involving Big Sky and/or Utah teams. Some we knew about, others we may not have known about. NAU is getting two transfers, a 6'5" shooting guard (Fr) from Wyoming & and a 6'1" point guard (Jr) from Iowa State. North Dakota is getting a 7'0" freshman center from Utah State while Jordan Stone (6'"10", Jr. C) and Danny Berger (6'6", Jr. F) are both transferring to BYU-Hawaii. Dewayne Russell from NAU is going to Grand Canyon Un.

Here's the rest of the list of locals that I took from the list:
For the past six or so years, I've compiled the Transfer List, and now I'm bringing it to ESPN.com.
The list itself is pretty simple: It accounts for every transfer in college basketball for the 2014 offseason, and is presented in alphabetical order, with the midseason transfers included at the bottom. We will update this periodically to reflect the latest changes.
Key:
ALL CAPS -- Player's new team
Italics -- Teams a player is considering
Keonta Vernon, 6-5, F, Fr., Wyoming -- NORTHERN ARIZONA
Jordan Stone, 6-10, C, Jr., Utah State -- BYU-HAWAII
Josh Fuller, 6-6, F, Fr., Weber State
Ahmad Fields, 6-5, G, Fr., Utah
Marcel Davis, 6-2, G, Soph., Utah State
Kyle Davis, 6-7, F, So., Utah State
Matt Carlino, 6-2, G, Jr., BYU (will graduate)
Danny Berger, 6-6, F, Jr., Utah State -- BYU-HAWAII

Midseason Transfer list: Those who transferred before the end of the season.
Dewayne Russell, 5-11, G, So., Northern Arizona -- GRAND CANYON
Carson Shanks, 7-0, C, Fr., Utah State -- NORTH DAKOTA
Lamont Prosser, 6-8, C, Sr., Portland State
K.J. Bluford, 6-1, G, Jr., Iowa State -- NORTHERN ARIZONA
Jamal Aytes, 6-6, F, Fr., UNLV – BYU

Personally, I feel this is a loss. What does this say to potential local recruits? What does it say to McKay Cannon or Van Pelt? I don't want to lose those kids and I want Weber to be more involved in local recruiting. No matter, He is a great kid, team leader, mature and successful student and an extremely hard worker. There is no other way to look at this as being an enormous negative for the program.

On a lighter note, the writing was on the wall. He seemed like the most likely to transfer. A friend of mine indicated that Dixie State would be a great fit for Josh and that might be his final destination. I could see him going to Westminster as well. He won't go DI he would have to sit and lose a year of eligibility. Also, this could be an indication that Weber is seriously looking to add two guys this spring. One being a 3/4 transfer and the other a wing type player. I feel that Rahe was honest and showed great appreciation towards Josh, but in the end had to be straight forward with him about his playing time and role on the team. Rahe doesn't have a scholarship available. Three years ago...Josh would have fit the dynamic of the team fairly well. Now not as much. He is an excellent rebounder and a terrific shooter.

Final thought, recruits were here over the weekend. Good time to have them here too...the Trailblazers were in town.

Talent wins. Might be nice to have local recruits, but best talent wins championships. Nice that Rahe gave Josh a shot, but he's not athletic enough to get significant playing time at Weber State, if I was a local recruit it would tell me that I need to get better to play at Weber State. That's a good thing!

Time for goals to change..... Making the dance can no longer be the goal, winning in the dance has got to be how we measure success at Weber State! Let's get to work!

Its interesting to see that Fuller is the only current transfer from the Big Sky on the list. There are a couple from last year, but ( Russell from NAU and Prosser from Portland State) none yet for this current cycle. Usually there are quite a few in the Big Sky.

I'm with Tal on this one. I feel a big loss in Josh's leaving. I believe that he will be a star, where ever he lands. He, definitely, could play for us. It really was just a matter of playing time and that the guys ahead of him were in his class or younger. I wish him nothing but the best.

Midmajor;

I feel that there won't be any more transfers from WSU this year. I think we would have heard something by now, if it were happening.

With Josh transferring, it does leave us with two openings. We should know within the next week or so, who will be filling those openings. There are a lot of options, but it looks like it will be a forward and a combo guard.

Whom ever we bring in, Josh will be missed. He is a sensational young man and a very good basketball player.

Sorry but school isnt out yet... Im positive we will lose someone else if not two more

If playing time is the main deciding factor he should head north to USU. He just won't know who else he'll be playing with.

I fully appreciated Josh's hustle and hard work. You need a few of those guys on your roster, that work hard everyday knowing that they won't see much playing time. I never felt that Josh's skill set meshed well with the team and he clearly was going to be behind some very athletic guys at his position.

Personally, I think this whole transfer thing is a little out of control. Carlino, numerous USU players, etc. and now Josh ... all to get more playing time? If it is a joint decision between the coaches and player that is one thing but just transferring in hopes of finding a green pasture is not right. It sounds like the coaches had a view of how Josh fit in and openly discussed it with him and that is fine, but when you have a high character kid that works his tail off (and does have skill) you should never take that lightly.

It is totally ridiculous to look at a group of incoming freshman and say for certainty we will now win in the NCAA?!?! Our current coaches have done an amazing job at improving the team year-to-year. Even with that though we have had a hard time just winning the BSC to get a bid. How many times did Dame win an NCAA game? Oh yeah, we never went during his time ...

How many kids have we recruited in the last 5 years who were supposed to be so great and never turned into anything because of injuries, off-court issues, lack of work ethic, can't cut the grades, etc. etc. etc. How many players are drafted in the NBA lottery and turn out to be total busts?

Our coaches are building a program with highly talented, hard working and high character kids. But we also have so many young players in the program now I think the one thing we had better plan on is uncertainty. There will be several more transfers as we figure out which ones REALLY have what it takes.

I personally hope we start to become the team that quality local kids want to come to. It can only help. And sorry to see Josh go.

And.....KJ Bluford transferred out from NAU before ever seeing any time of the court. Twitter said he's heading to Eastern Kentucky now. I don't see Keonta Vernon listed on NAU's roster either. Not sure what's going on in this case?

Meh!

NAU has had some great transfers over the years and there are always exceptions to the norm but transfers more often seem to never work their way into the rotation or end up leaving. I think the best results come from building a team by recruiting player for the long haul over 4 years.

Mt. Jack,

Yikes!! That isn't good that NAU is losing players even before the season starts. Bluford was, in my opinion, slated to being a starter for the Jacks. I guess not. I do like Murphy and feel he is doing what he needs to do to rebuild the NAU program, and that it is definitely headed in the right direction. After two seasons he has assembled a talented squad on it is on the rise. Maybe the incoming players were better than Bluford and were going to help out far quicker. Who knows. So far, I'm pretty impressed by the recruits coming in and who Murphy has already gotten verbals from. Michael Green looks like a great get for the Jacks.

NAU used to be a huge rivalry for us. Maybe it can return to that now. NAU has been down for far too long.

Weber will be picked to win again this year, but I think that the league is wide open. I'm hoping that the league, as a whole, can take a step up and start to show better.
