Joshua Smith transferring from UCLA

The HUGE post got his release from the Bruins earlier this week. He was HS stud at Kentwood leading them to the state title his senior year. We've had pretty good success with state champs from Kentwood before. Maybe Hayford should get on this guy soon so he could be eligible by this time next year, but that seems unlikely at this point in the season. All I know is that the Big Sky would have no bodies to match Smith, and the Eagles' front court would be nearly unstoppable.

Doubt he comes to EWU...he was the #1 high school recruit when he came out of high school. He also doesn't fit Hayford's system well...

Chances of Smith transferring here are highly unlikely, although we'd love to have him, he could be a college stud and play at the next level...

I would say that there is a 00.0% he would even step foot on our campus. Plus not sure if I would want him. Have you seen him this year. Looks totally out of shape! Plus he would only have one year to play because of the transfer.

I mostly just said it because of the Kentwood and Stuckey parallels. No way he's going to the PAC-12, and I don't see him going to any other major conference for a year. Trent from UW ended up at Seattle U, and it's not like they're a powerhouse. But yeah I think it's clear where EWU's athletic focus is, and it's clearly not towards Reese Court, so a household name like Smith probably would scoff at the chance of even coming to Cheney. He has lost weight, but it's clear he's not going to the NBA. He would dominate in the Big Sky though.
