I always like to keep up with the Bengals early recruits. Here's a quote from a story about Justin Smith from Monument, Colorado in a big win over rival Broomfield in December. I like the versatility this young man brings: dunks and treys.
"The game turned primarily on the play of one Ranger -- Justin Smith. The Idaho State University recruit devastated Broomfield's defense. The 6-foot 6-inch forward finished the night with a game-high 25 points and was nearly unstoppable coming out of halftime.
Smith heated up early in the third, drawing a few fouls and making the subsequent free throws. But it was after he slammed down a dunk in midway through the period that he took off. His most devastating shots were two 3-pointers to end quarter, giving his team a 13-point lead and initiating the rout."
More versatility, this from Bengal recruit Scott Tyler of Grafton, Wisconsin in their recent win over Port High School:
Maronde also singled out Scotty Tyler for his all-around play.
“He sacrificed some of his usual offense, with just nine points, but he also had five steals, nine rebounds and six assists,” Maronde said.
At 6-6 and 6-7, respectively, it's going to be fun having these guys on the wings for the next four years.
