Katz signs Antonio Flaggs

Well, never heard of this guy and he's played at a DII and a JC. He looks undersized for a G/F... I hope Katz isn't putting together a JC team here with a 6'3 SF and a 6'6 F/C...

New Sacramento State men's basketball coach Brian Katz landed his second recruit with the signing of Antonio Flaggs, a 6-foot-3 guard-forward from Diablo Valley College.

Flaggs averaged 12.9 points, 2.9 assists and 2.6 rebounds last season for Diablo Valley (26-8). He shot 41.2 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from three-point range and 74.8 percent from the free-throw line.

A sophomore with two years of eligibility left, Flaggs joins San Joaquin Delta College forward Aaron Wilson in the recruiting class Katz has assembled since starting the Hornets job April 10.

"Antonio is a winner who comes from one of the best junior college programs in the state," Katz said in a statement. "He can shoot the ball well, is very long and athletic, and is a quality kid."

Why did he leave Humboldt? They have a good DII program.

I don't know... But, at least Katz is going semi-local with his recruits. If nothing else, that should help attendance. This first year of recruiting is going to be tough, because he hasn't had a chance to scour the H.S. ranks, he may be relegated to the JC ranks for the year...

Give him some time. Go to the first game next year. Trust me, you'll be very happy with the product he puts on the floor.

EarleHornet, welcome to the board! I'm at every game and I hope you're right. I just don't want to see a glorified JC product on the court. Anything less than a berth in the BSC tourney in 2009-2010, then his job will be on the line in 2010-2011.

I would expect at least 10 wins this year too with a Soph Vinnie McGhee and seniors, Rod Adams, Randy Adams, Loren Leath, and Curtis Harrison...

Thanks Kadeezy.

JC players is where he has to go with this little time left before the season. Next year, I doubt very few recruits, if any, will be JC guys. Knowing Katz, his goal is not to qualify for the BSC tourney. His goal is to win it.
