KCRA Tours Well and raves about field

Like Walt said....sweeeet!

Ok, some questions. It was stated that students would pay $110 per semester for 30yrs. By my tabulations that is $178,200,000 over the life of the loan. The building cost $77,000,000 and with debt service overall maybe $100,000,000.

What is the other $78,000,000 going to be used for?

27,000 students x $110 x 2 x 30=$178,200,000

The students voted and passed a separate resolution increasing the 'wellness' fee they pay per semester. And since the new building is 33% wellness, that portion of the fee would pay for 33% of the $178,200,000.

So the $78,000,000 is really $100,000,000. More than enough to pay for a new $60M arena.

I smell a flim-flam.

It looks awesome. I'm glad I voted for that in 2004. As mentioned, the only thing missing is the events center, something that was included on that ballot measure that should have been built.

True about the events center, however, the events center was to be part of "the Well" and it was supposed to be upwards of 236,000 sf, not the 150,000 or so it is. Students agreed to an extra $10 per semester until construction began, after construction began student would then pay $110 per semester for 25 years. I voted in favor of the project as well when I was there.

Because the events center was voter approved, it should be built, no questions asked IMHO. Students agreed to a fee increase to support it over 6 years ago.
