Keepin' track

9 down, 2 to go (3-6) - I guess now we're even with the debacle of last year's game against UNC.

10 down, 1 to go (3-7) - At this point I don't even see life jackets, let alone any charred dingy for any survivors to cling to.

How about 15-3? I realise you're keepin' track of football, but it's really not the be all and end all of PSU athletics. Of course, that's a matter of opinion. But do consider our volleyball team. They've done spectacularly well this year, fitting in a new outside hitter. Outstanding coaching! We won't do any worse than second place in conference, with a bye in the playoffs. With our last match against ISU next week, we could end up in a tie for first place. We did a great job last night taking down UNC at their home. Our two latst matches will be at our home, with a sure win against Weber, then ISU. Go Viks!!

Finally, the ship is at rest at 3 - 8 . The water is ice cold but the sky still looks blue. Spring is around the corner and the swords will be razor sharp in the Fall. Time to pull the warriors onto shore, hunker down and retool for the onslaught before us. Bless you Viking players for facing this season with dignity, effort, and a commitment to excellence.

All that you said, doubled in spades, Scooter. I wonder if I can encourage you to shift your attention to our volleyball team now. They beat ISU and took the conference last night, so next year's tournament will be at PSU. We could very well take the tournament this year, though Wheeler, one of our best hitters, went out with a knee injury last night (yes, volleyball has injuries too). Corrado, a sophomore who's played sparingly in a couple matches this year, took Wheeler'splace, played nearly the entire match, and hit 14 kills at .240 -which is very very good, I promise you. The tournament this year is at UNC - you'll have to watch from a distance. But if you want a taste of the action, there's a video of last night's match on goviks.com. Take a look!
