Ken Pomeroy, who uses a statistical model to rank teams and predict outcomes, has issued his pre-season ratings for every D-1 men's team in the country. Somewhat surprisingly, he has North Dakota ranked as the top team in the Big Sky and Weber State is only third. ISU is rated sixth, and he has Sac State ahead of them, the only place I've seen the Hornets rated that high. He has the Big Sky rated as the 23rd of 32 in the nation, which is a bit higher than it's been in recent years. Here are Pomeroy's rankings for the entire conference:
North Dakota
Montana
Weber
Idaho
Sac State
ISU
Montana State
EWU
Portland St
N Colorado
NAU
S Utah
Pomeroy projects ISU to finish 14-16 overall, 9-9 in league games. I'm hoping for much better, obviously, but it's always interesting to get a dispassionate, statistical based analysis to put things in perspective.
