Kevin Thomson Medical Redshirt Approved?

So Kevin Thomson is supposed to be a SR. next year, but I heard he expects to receive a medical RS for one of his years at UNLV, giving him TWO more seasons with the Hornets.

Anyone know anything more on this?

Wow, that would be huge if true!

BTW, who was on here before the season started talking about how Sears made the wrong selection and the team itself wanted Kolney Cassel, he was the true team leader? Just wondering their thoughts on what happened, in their mind?

I’m too lazy to look back and see who that was, but I remember that too.

It sounds like Kolney is a good kid, but his body let him down as his shoulder is apparently made of paper machè...

I was anti-Safron after he debuted as a FR and couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. He then harnessed the deep ball and used his legs more and became arguably the top QB we’ve ever seen in the program...

OSH, you seem like a nice guy. And you’re a Hornet fan, so bonus points. But this SD schtick is wearing thin. It’s not funny, and we get you have issues with him.

I feel like I speak for a majority when I say, for the sake of the rest of us, please stop.

absolutely! I was so anti-Safron, did not see it all. I guess that’s why we’re message board commenters.

I was one of the ones that questioned QB choice early in the season. I find it absolutely disingenuous, with the benefit of the end of the season to want to call people out, a real tough guy. When the season started it was pretty obvious that at that time Thomson was hesitant in making his throws and was missing by quite a bit, he looked uncomfortable. Compare and contrast to Kassel who the prior year stood in the pocket and delivered some great passes to receivers in stride.

I,too, have 20-20 hindsight and amazingly, can see Thomson was the right choice. I don't live my life in the rear view mirror, I live mine looking forward making decisions with the best info I have at the time.

My bad, I really wasn’t trying to call anyone out. My apologies if it came out like that. If you read the post and the last sentence, I was legit asking that one poster in specific what happened, since they had access/insight into the lockerroom mindset.

I even posted how wrong I was about Safron.

The QB position is crazy at the college level, you get guys coming out of nowhere, studs that can’t get out of their own heads to be successful after HS or JC, really unpredictable - part of what makes it so fun to watch!

Except for Marcel Marquez. And Brad Tredway. And Chris Hurd. Oh man, the QB situation was not good in my years after Ryan Leadingham lol...

PH...you don't owe anyone an apology for your gently-phrased question...especially to the guy who hides behind a keyboard as he professes inside information and a higher level of expertise than the coaches and then is laughably wrong with his assertions. The same guy does so anomalously and then brags about how he's a Teflon covered, forward-moving dude as he calls you out for acting like a tough guy. WTF??
Your question was more than legit...the response form HH was out of line.

So what everyone is saying is that we do not know anything, this is a speculation board! And unless you are a player or coach you have no information

I think there's a couple of guys that on this site that have football knowledge...including you OH. What bothers me is the guys that pretend to know waaaaaaaaaaay more than they do and then feel the need to get on here namelessly and act like they know more than the coaching staff. They use this site to say things they would never have the balls to say in front of any real Hornet fans, players or coaches. There seems to be an inverse relationship between football IQ and how adamantly some of these dudes post. Most of the guys beating their chests around here should stick to posting stats or their opinions regarding the color of our latest uniform combinations...most everything else is clearly above their pay grade. And as we will soon see, if you call them out, their lil clique comes out firing to protect their right to talk tough from behind a keyboard.

You’re absolutely right, OSH, that was a pretty beta response to HH by me. No reason for me to apologize. If someone comes on a message board, makes a big claim/prediction that turns out to be spectacularly wrong, it deserves to get called out.

I thought Safron was a bum and I posted it many times in the past. I was horribly wrong and anyone that wanted to call me out was perfectly right to do so. I admit it. Just like those who said Kolney Cassel was the team leader and Sears was dead wrong starting Thomson deserve some ribbing.

The funny thing is that I actually was interested in knowing what they thought happened.

The SD genius knows who that was.

Wasn't me, but I did say K-Ham was the only QB on the 2016 roster that gave us the best chance to win. Thomson's on the field play has more than proven that the QB move was the right call.

Huge for this offense and this program that he has 2 more years.

You just had to go there... :ohno:

Spot on with your Safron post above. His development over the years into one of the most dynamic QBs this program ever saw was pretty spectacular. Safron was tough as nails to boot.
