A guard from the Juan Diego team has signed with the Cats for next season. I have no idea who it is or what his stats are, but I'm pretty sure he will be red-shirted. Next season Weber will have one point guard for each class: Dent RFR, Lillard Soph, Cottle JR, and Benson SR. There will be more room at the 2 guard: Hansen SR, Hughey JR, and Davis FR (might be red-shirted). I wouldn't doubt it if Coach were to take one of the PG's and turn him into a SG... Stroud, Pelo, and Larson are all going on LDS missions (at least I think all three are). I wouldn't doubt it if coach were to bring in a couple of local kids to play on the scout team next year, this Juan Diego guy might be a preferred walk-on who knows. Also, we should keep our eyes on two SLCC guards Conner Van Brocklin (red-shirting) and Davis Emery (having a decent FR year on a loaded SLCC squad; he is shooting .425 from 3pt range and 87% from the FT line) who are both going to be going on missions at the end of the season.

Coach is still looking for a JC wing...

this is a story from the Chile... its a rough translation... but it has a picture. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.noticias.febachile.cl/noticia.php%3FDNI_CONTENT%3D291&ei=K0ejSfjrO4KEsAP_oJGjAg&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=3&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpablo%2BCoro%2BChile%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGWYA,GWYA:2005-22,GWYA:en

Pablo Coro was a McDonald's All-American finalist... that means, out of 1,500 Nominees nation wide, he was one of the last 100... Also, Blake Davis and Byron Fulton were both Nominees (McDonald All-American honorable mention)

Wasn't Lindsey Hughey a McDonalds All-American Honorable Mention? Does that mean that he was also a nominee or was he looked at by Oklahoma's committee but not put on the nominee list? I think its pretty cool that all of Weber's recruits for next season received post-season attention and accolades.

Here is the info on the Coro kid:

Dateline: 2/14/2008
Weber State signed 4 players not three
PAUL CORO Quote: "The NBA is the dream of anyone" Paul Coro. Juan Diego High School 6'3" 185 Lbs. Guard. He has received a scholarship to study at Weber State University, to become the first Chilean to play in Division I NCAA. Early, Paul Coro started very young in the adult team Provincial Osorno. In 2004, for 14 years, and shared with parquet figures on the size of Patrick Sáez, Erik Carrasco ... además de su padre, Pablo Coro Oyarzo besides her father, Paul Coro Oyarzo As usual selection lowest since 2005, he emigrated to the United States to finish his studies at the Juan Diego Catholic School, but with the mind set on a scholarship that allowed him to study at a university in the country's north. Successful. After three months playing in several states, two universities in the first NCAA Division I was offered full scholarship to study and play them," said Coro, who finally signed on the Weber State University in Utah. Coro will be the first Chilean to play in the top Division One number of U.S. college basketball, which thrives on new figures provided to the NBA. The "Wildcats" of Weber State, in fact, have sent 17 players to the millionaire league. The last, in 2008, was Lance Allred, who came to Cleveland. "Playing in the NBA is the dream of everyone, and nothing is impossible. I know I will have to work very hard to go as high as possible", says Canasteros. For now, expectations are measured: "I try as a first goal of being the holder base in my first year in college and learn a lot more to mature as a player," he predicts. Paul Coro scored 22 points for Juan Diego to offset Delta High School in Draper, Utah. Why did you choose Weber? Jugarás por los Wildcats... Play for the Wildcats ... -Así es. That's right. Visité las dos universidades, conocí a los entrenadores y sentí un trato especial allí, además de la conversación que tuve con el entrenador. I visited the two universities, I met the coaches and there was special treatment, in addition to the conversation I had with the trainer. BYU was good Weber State better. What does this step for you to college basketball college? It is something I dreamed since I was a kid, it looks very far away. Once you're in the situation where you have two offers from Division 1 colleges, (had another BYU, Brigham Young University)with Utah State looking, you feel good about yourself, you feel that you're just fulfilling your dreams and your goals. Choir Jr. had a great floor leader within your team: 26 points, 1 triple, 11 for 11 free throws, 2 assists and 5 steals. It was with great confidence and a leader on the field immediately in a very tough encounter between his school and Skyline (5A division). He will give Weber State a good swing guard behind Hansen and JUco Transfer next season..

Coro's team is in the 3A semis tonight and will be playing the Bear River Bears. CatCat do you wanna go? We can go to the Iguana after the game... Against Hurrican Coro had 11pts. Not one of his better games. However if anyone is interested there is some film of the Juan Diego vs. Hurrican game on KSL. Coro is 20.

I will be paying close attention to this game. I happen to know one or 2 people who are inteested in the BR basketball team, and then there's the Cora kid.

I do want to see Coro do well, but I am from Ogden... I like seeing the Northern Utah schools do well. Especially those schools that are in the same region as Ogden High. SO... I'll cheer for Coro, not Juan Diego.
