This is really good news. I'm surprised though. Kozak is a really solid player. Good for him. I hope Brown does the same and comes back, but I have a feeling he will be gone. Still have not seen any players on the transfer list. I'm fine with everyone coming back.

Agree. If everyone comes back, develops and works hard our team could be really special. We need a little more speed and most importantly a defensive focus. I really wish Randy would mix things up on defense a little more. He has the guys to run and gun a bit and he has the length to play a shut down zone. We have never been this tall and long. Matchup zones could really kill a lot of teams in the Sky.

It's a little of both for our program and Kozak. The Euro pro leagues have been messed up due to Covid and travel restrictions. Europe has also just started into a fourth wave of Covid cases and things are quite uncertain over there. Kozak can work on his masters degree and hopefully things will clear up over the pond within the next year. For our program, he is a solid big man who can do a little bit of everything. It's a win/win.

I think the same things can be said about Carlson's situation as well. I think Brown has a legitimate shot at the G League. or a better contract elsewhere.

There will be the same conversations going on with athletes in other sports as well. The nice thing for the teams is that their grants don't count against the total allowed if they choose to return.

I just saw on the transfer list that Davison and both the Grooves brothers are leaving ewu. The coach left for Portland too. That is a huge blow for the Eagles and leaves the door wide open for Weber State or another team to take the conference next season. I would have totally picked Eastern Washington next year but with all their losses it's wide open now

I'm wondering if the players leaving EWU are simply following their coach to Portland? It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.

EWU promoted their top assistant and the Groves kids still left. That tells you how much they liked their coach. The new guy sounds like he will put together a good program. He may just have to do a little rebuilding. EWU has a budget that is hurting right now. They keep talikg about dropping sports or dropping to D11. :wall:

I would love to see us try some matchup zones. Neil McCarthy successfully used a matchup zone in the early 1980s with a team that did not have the length nor athleticism that our team will have next year.
