Kris Yanku Transfers

I just saw on Verbal Commits that Kris is leaving NAU. Sucks for them. He is a good player, but seems to have an attitude. Might be good for them in the long run. The other notable transfer in the Big Sky I noticed is Bryce White from PSU. He left before the season ended. He seemed like a head case, but he was averaging around 10ppg. I wonder if we see any Weber State players leave. Seems like every year there are 1 or 2 transfers. Just how D1 basketball goes.

I remember Yanku not traveling with the Lumberjacks to Reno, so Im guessing that something happened after their last game vs the Hornets. Wonder if it had something to do with why Yanku was coming off the bench.

Son of a .....

Yanku was getting starter minutes off the bench so I don't think minutes was the issue. He seemed visibly frustrated on a few occasions with NAU's struggles this year. NAU was pretty tight lipped about why Yanku didn't travel to Reno other than the fact that it was "team conduct" type stuff.

Cody Bashore, AZ Daily Sun (Flagstaff) beat writer, has more info on his twitter account. He said it was a "mutual decision". https://twitter.com/AZDS_Bashore?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Jordan Martin and Jaleni Neely are applying for medical redshirts so the team should return some experience to go with Ako Kaluna and what the slew of freshmen gained this season.

This just makes me sad. He was fun to watch at point and I don't see his style of running the team truly being replaced. Not to say other guards aren't capable but Yanku just had that uncanny knack of drawing fouls, getting to the free throw line and playing the point guard position in a physical manner. :-(

Dewayne Russell left a few years ago and it looked like all was lost...but in the end it wasn't. I'll just have to hope for the same this time around.

I hear ya MT Jack. Sad to see him go. Yanku was my favorite non-Weber player to watch in the Big Sky over the last two years. NAU is the only team that I would watch when they weren't playing Weber because I loved how creative and aggressive Yanku is on offense. Hope your young guys can pick up the slack next year. Big Sky basketball is always more fun when NAU is good.

Kris Yanku has announced that he is going PRO in Europe or somewhere over there. Announcement is on his twitter feed.@krisyanku
