Last Conf roady to Sac

You can take the fact that Sac is in the bottom half of the conference and throw it out the window. Sac is a tough team and this is a tough road trip. Sac is one of the better coached teams in the league and they play some of the best D. Every year they get up to play WSU. It's like the playoffs for them. One win over us makes their entire season. We can expect a dog fight from start to finish. That's just the way it is and I think it can only make us better.

People may look at our scoring stats and think that we are just an offensive team. That is not true. We play D as well. We have more weapons and should win, but that is not a given. Being in a big city, we should get experienced officials. I'm counting on having similar refs to what we had in Ogden this past week. Those are the kind of officials that everyone sees in the big dance.

Hopefully, we have Bassett back and can take advantage of playing at sea level for the first time this year. :coffee:

This is the first year in about 4 or 5 years when I don't feel like we can beat you....Our season has been swatted by covid every time we seem to be gelling....We have had 4 very winnable games against PSU and NAU (3 of those were home games) cancelled when momentum could have been gained...We haven't had a full roster for a single game this year and only had close to a full roster for a handful of BSC games....I don't see us giving you guys much of a game unless your team is off and ours is having a great game...

The three-point shots were off, but Weber State played well down the stretch and pulled away in closing minutes. It’s always a tough game in Sacramento. I expect more of the same Saturday.

Looked to me that we didn't come to this game with a focused mindset. Felt more like going thru the motions without emotion, until near the end when they did buckle down and get the job done. We have a horrible second game of the weekend against the same opponent record. I predict it will take a lot more focus than they played with tonight to win on Saturday.

Yeah the defense was pretty terrible but they did buckle down late in the game. Offensively, they were laying it in almost every time down the floor to finish the game. Good win!

Katz always has his team playing D at a high level. They rarely get blown out of any game because of it. The defensive philosophy is so similar at our two schools that it makes these games a dog fight. Our games often go down to the wire. Weber wins at a higher rate because we tend to have better offensive players.

I expect that Saturday's game will be another dog fight. I still like our chances due to having better scorers. :coffee:

Olds, I totally agree with you. We don't beat many teams with anything but our ability to shoot. In the Big Sky we have more of that than anyone...

Weber is 4-2 in Saturday rematch games, I'd hardly call that being horrible.

But i do agree that Weber didnt look hot last night. Possibly going through the motions. Terrible shooting night from downtown. I think Sac had a lot to do with that but we missed a lot of open looks as well. I expect a better shooting night tomorrow.

When the 3s aren't falling, we found another way to win. We shot nearly 70% from our 2s and found a way to stop their dribble drive in the last 10 minutes of the game. Randy made some effective, in game, adjustments to clean up our D.

Sac was over playing our three point shooters and we beat them at the rim. I'm sure that both sides will make more adjustments for the Saturday game. I expect that we will play better D and shoot better from 3. The end result will be quite similar. :coffee:

That may have been the easiest game winning shot I’ve ever seen lol. Shame on Sac for that defense on the last bucket.

Winning two close contested games on the road are good confidence builders. Good job on getting a sweep.

Ugly win, but a win nonetheless. I'll take it. Hopefully the bad shooting bug gets lifted for next week's games

These 2 games were closer than I thought...we played about as good as we can (minus the atrocious free throw shooting).....I don't know if we had a time out left at the end but if we did, Katz screwed up by not calling it when our last bucket went down...he could have set up a defense to at least use up some clock instead of playing the parting of the Red Sea defense we showed in that last possession...probably wouldn't have mattered but it would have been interesting....I don't think anyone is looking to play us in Boise...

My opinion is that Katz gets the most play out of the limited resources at his disposal. He could really get a program going if he had better facilities and resources to recruit to. Anyone who draws Sac in Boise is in for a dog fight for 40 minutes. :coffee:
