Oceanside High linebacker Justin Vaeena will continue his football career at Idaho State, he said.

The Valley League defensive player of the year and All-CIF first team member had 162 tackles on the year as the Pirates won their fifth straight CIF San Diego Section Division II title.

"It was a good fit," said Vaeena, who visited the campus last weekend. "It's the opposite of Oceanside, and that's what I'm looking for. I want to see what the world has to offer and not be contained to what I'm used too."

Here's a picture of the new Bengal. Good-looking athlete. Had 162 tackles and 6 sacks -- another Pago?

ESPN's "Outside the Lines" recently did an EXCELLENT feature on Justin Vae'ena...

"OTL" spends a week with crosstown rivals in San Diego County. Two Football Programs in Different Worlds.

Great find SLC. That's a fabulous story by OTL...and there's no doubt that ISU got the best of the two. The kid can be special....heck, he already is.
