this lights a huge fire under the players. Getting disrespected like this has got to piss them off. I think the players would love to get Mac back and would rally around him. All is not lost. 2012 can still be a great year.
 
What about our RECRUITS!!! Where are they going to go? They were promised things by this coaching staff and now, Mr John Liar Smith is gone. Not to mention the new coaches, they have moved across the country and now they are getting screwed over too. YIKES!!
 
Good riddance to him [if this is what happened now, who knows what he would've done down the line!]. Let's hope the assistant coaches stay on - to give some consistency going forward from spring football (at least at the positions level). And...for the same reason probably makes the most sense to make an existing assistant coach the head coach -or Mac, if we can get him - because they know the players. No way a new guy could walk in and the first time he gets to see his players work is in August -- 4 weeks before the season starts.

Agreed. The only real options this late in the year is to promote an assistant or rehire Mac.
 
I'm sure the players are pissed, and not just because the idiot picked up and left in the middle of the night, but also because of the fact Smith was the coach in the first place . He was a psycho and none of the players liked him, or the Cecil jerk (OL coach). On a previous post, I indicated thaCecil had a foul mouth. Well, calling players mother fuck... cherry c.n.. really takes the cake. What a loser - no wonder SMith liked him. No respectgiven to the players on the team and I would have given Smith 1/2 of the fall workouts and he would have been run out of town anyway.
