Lewis and Clark

Not bad for a first game with an essentially new team. Forte picked up 32, Pineiro another newby 13. Holdoever White got 20, Spickerman 11. Gengler played reasonably well but fouled a lot. L & C is no slouch as a team. Beating them by 20 is just fine. It's going to take a while for this team to jell but it's coming along. Oh, and Okunwo got in for the last minute - pretty much stood around like a deer in the headlights. Geving's got quite a project there!

Vik City Dunk City. Might need new rims by the end of the season by the amount of punishment from Cameron Forte  Slow start as L&C came out on fire from beyond the arc. Having Damian Lillard on that side must've given them the powers to hit those long balls 3-4 feet behind the line.

I was at the game last night, some observations:

1) Best Lewis and Clark team I've seen in a long time.

2) Portland State has depth which could either be a plus or minus, depending how Coach Geving deals with it.

3) Cameron Forte is the real deal! He will be the main option on offense for the Viks this season. Great pick-up for the Vikings. Too bad he has only one year left.

4) Vikings need to work on their defense! Giving up that many points to L&C is concerning!

5) Namdi Okonkwo only played a few minutes at the end of the game (which speaks volumes in itself) and what I saw was a bit disappointing. He's tall, very slender and if he can contribute, it will be on the defensive side of the ball. I hope he can gain a few lbs and continue to improve this season.

6) This team overall has talent and potential, but a lot work is needed! Go Viks!!!

7) Braxton Tucker didn't play. I'm guessing because of some minor injury.

I was out of town this weekend, so I had to miss the game.

Looks like we really transition the ball down court in a hurry. Good to see. From the youtube highlight I couldn't tell if this was a game or a dunk contest. :D
