Bummer. Hate seeing top talent leave the FCS to become a bottom tier FBS team. I understand it, do not get me wrong, but as an FCS fan- it's not fun to see.

Calling Liberty top FCS talent is a stretch, IMO.

Fair- that checks out. However, they do have a stadium nearly the size of Washington-Grizzly and a national trademark any typical college football fan will recognize. It is a loss for the FCS and adds to a more and more diluted bottom tier FBS.

At best, they eventually move to the Sun Belt and win a conference title or two, but I'm not expecting a lot of success for them. I know there's been some talk of them trying be the next BYU (an independent school that is lifted by it's fan base), but I don't see them reaching that level.

My thoughts exactly. I believe they made the playoffs a sum total of once. I watched them play this year and they looked very pedestrian. Probably equivalent to Northern Colorado or thereabouts.

UNC looked dull this season? The Bears nearly pulled the upset against the Eagles in Washington, beat Montana and finished with a winning season. I don't think UNC had a very dull or "pedestrian" season at all.

When your highlights of the season are the "almosts" you are pedestrian.

You're contradicting yourself. Pedestrian means dull. UNC's game against EWU was anything but dull. The Bears had many games that were pretty exciting. Thus, "almost" are in themselves not pedestrian.

As an adjective, I used pedestrian to mean monotonous or predictable, in that every year there are a couple of decent wins but no playoffs. Just sort of middle of the pack.

Would you rather be compared to Liberty or Idaho State? Because that comparison might have worked as well. And it would have been far worse.

Didn't Idaho have a conference affiliation when they moved up? I believe Liberty is independent. That seems like a tough hill to climb.

Losing 49-31 isn't really almost pulling an upset. The game was closer than that score, but EWU was never really in any kind of danger to lose that game. A more appropriate game to talk about would be the 2015 game in Greeley. THAT was a close game. Not the one in Cheney this year. And when a program has never made the playoffs in its Division I history yes that is very pedestrian.
