Lillard honors Ogden with NBA number

Damian Lillard is honoring his roots with his choice of number to wear for the Portland Trail Blazers — including his college town: Ogden.

After asking fans for input, the former Weber State star and sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft posted this message on Facebook and Twitter: “Next season I’ll be wearing #0 . . . Grew up in Oakland, college in Ogden, and my NBA team is in Oregon.”

Zero isn’t a letter according to the letter of the law, but by the spirit of the law, it works for Lillard. Especially when you pronounce it “oh” — as in Oakland, Ogden, Oregon.
