Lillard vs. Boyette....

Last night when Lillard passed up Boyette for 3rd place on the all time scoring list, I began to compare the two players. I was wondering who will have the better career here at WSU when its all said and done. Both are explosive players, but a different type of players. I tried to remember who had more "quality" wins for their respected teams. Lillard has won a lot of games, but not too many great wins. I think that Lillard will get a nice win in the bracket buster this year and one or two in the NCAA tournament. :-D :-D Can anyone think of any other wins that are impressive under Lillard? USU, Utah...?
Boyette had several "signature" wins while a wildcat. He beat, Wisconsin and LSU on the Islands, BYU at home and he snapped the Utes something like 52 home game wining streak at the Huntsman, I believe the Utes were ranked that game.

Who do you guys think has/had more quality wins during their 3 years of playing at WSU? Lillard or Boyette??

Don't forget that Boyette had Ocokolic alongside him, a legit 6'8" Big Ten forward who left Ohio State to come play at Weber. Not knocking the rest of the guys on this year's team, none are at the level Ocokolic was his junior year (before all of his leg problems).
That said, Lillard is a better outside scorer and rebounder that Boyette was. Boyette might have been quicker on defense though.

wsufan,

you have an incredible memory considering how young you would have been during the boyette days.

boyette was a great player, dame is a current great player. dame is a true point guard though where boyette was basically a point-post. boyette didnt have much of an outside shot but was amazing driving it in and drawing the foul. boyette also didn't get a freshman year at the DI level since he played the one yr at SLCC as a prop48.

lillard or boyette getting a 4th yr at weber would have a big impact on the record books especially lillard.

boyette was a special player. the 2003 conf tourney was pretty electric. we will see that again this yr.

i am gonna be putting some of that 2003 stuff and the boyette post game interview on youtube soon.

i think slob was a redshirt when we beat LSU & Wisconsin. getting harder to remember.

i think trez & hajek will be better players as jr's n sr's than slob, bachman, woods & danly.

I was in like 9th grade during 02-03 team. That team was very special to me too.. I was the only wildcat fan out of my friends, so I always got heat from them for "liking" WSU. I have always stood next to my team! If I remember correctly, The win against LSU was on a last second inbound pass from the opposite baseline to Bachman, who caught it and released it from the free throw line as the last 2 or seconds expired! I remember listening to that game! Feels like yesterday! It also seems like they might have beaten Colorado State during that same tournament? That Island tournament would have been the 01-02 season... Can you verify that catcat...? I also remember going to Reed Guy during the 02-03 season... It was a dog fight for most of the game,, Boyette hit a big three to open it up a little bit. I also remember Morrison being in a huge shooting slump that he never lost his Sr, year. I do remember him hitting a corne 3-point shot to beat EWU to stay undefeated in conf. play!! :-D I also remember the Boyette game at the Huntsman Center, seems like it was his first official or second game as a wildcat, due to prop48. Seems like the Utes were given a technical foul for letting the ball roll out of bounds as the ofical set the ball down waiting for a utes player to inbound the ball... I also remember the game WSU beat EWU, in that game Hamilton hit like 8 three pointers... He was taunting the coaches of EWU.. Not sure which season that was though... The Boyette years were amazing, and its too bad they didn't upset Wisconsin in the tourney... :wall: I just hope that we can have these same memories from this years team come 10 years from now!!!!

awesome man!

ya hamilton ewu game was 2003-04, ewu won the title that yr but lost in ogden near the end of the year.

colorado st was at that same tourney in 03.

stevie did struggle with the outside shot u do remember very well. but he did have a winning buzzer shot in regulation baseline 3 which helped on that 14-0 season.

i was also at that isu game in poca in 03. it was a great game, packed house. that was my first in poca. i am glad they dont play there. its like a mini spectrum but not as good of student section of course. we barely won that game.

you are gonna trip when you see this 2003 highlights when i get them online. local news stuff was pretty funny to watch now.

Good thing I'm here to help catcat!!! Loool he struggles with his memory at times, you Bake!!! Stevie hit the baseline 3 against NAU at the first of the conference season. I was with my fraternity (not a frat) on campus listening to the game. We didn't plan on it. It just kinda happened that way. Great night!!

The Islands Tourny was in 01-02 and yes Colorado Lost to is in the Championship. Brad Barton hit the three at Eastern in 02-03 to keep our winning streak alive. Fun times!! Listening to Weber games and going to them was the most exciting things to do on campus.
