Lillard vs Stucky??

I was browsing the Griz' forum and saw this comment by casewinter13

lol sorry but its hard not to laugh at some of the comical things said here...first off, since many crazy things are possible, i hate to say never, but NOTHING Lillard has shown us would indicate that he would be a better pro than rodney stuckey, the guy that led Detroit to trade away Chauncey Billups, and the guy that just signed another contract extension of 3 years $25 million...

...And to say that Lillard is a better college player than Stuckey because Lillard has elevated Weber higher than Stuckey did EWU?...lol to use the expression "apples and oranges" would be an understatement here...

Remember weber st. last year?...pretty good team, huh?...top 3 in the league, competitive all year long...Lillard didnt play most of the season for them last year and they were still a pretty good basketball team...they have a handful of really nice ball players and a great coach, thats why theyre better than EWU was...EWU was garbage the 2 years Stuckey played

Lillard is absolutely one of the most complete guards in the country this year, and definitely one of the best in big sky history...but to this point, and he is no rodney stuckey...and while i have no doubt hes an nba player, again, he is no rodney stuckey

just wondering what you all thought about comparing the two and Lillard's potential as an NBA player vs. Stucky.

Well...at this point, it is almost impossible to compare the players. Lillard may not be as talented as Stucky, but he is a harder worker than him. Also, Stucky had to redshirt since he was a Prop 48. He was a part of the Eastern team for 3 years, but only played for them for 2. I don't know it it matters that much, but as a red-shirt it gave Stucky a year to get ready for DI play. Lillard went directly into the fray and garnered 1st team honors as a true freshman.

While he was in Cheney, he was their team, while Lillard is a part of our team. Granted, he is our star, and a game changer, but not the whole team. Because of Stucky, Eastern had chances to win games, but never was a threat to win the conference crown. Lillard wins championships and is more interested in the success of the overall team rather than himself. I don't know if Stucky is necessarily a glory hog, or not, but to me at least, it seemed that way. Of course, that could be because he was the only thing to watch when Eastern played and was forced to carry the team. Lillard has the chance to garner national fame and awards, while Stucky didn't. However, is it because of what Stucky has achieved, in the NBA, that is getting Lillard more notorierty? I don't think so, but who knows.

The post from the UM fan seems like a butt hurt fan who had just watched his team get the crap beaten out of them. One thing is for sure. The talent level in the Sky is a lot better now than when Stucky played. With some better coaching, the Sky would be a lot tougher. Stucky didn't have to go against other potentially NBA calibre guards while in the Sky. Lillard has faced 2 possibly 3 this season, and will probably go up against 2 more before the season is done.

lillard is a better student than stucky that is for sure. no offense to the prop48s. we have had a lot of good ones. i was a non athlete prop48 so i shouldn't dis.

What I heard about Rodney, back then, was that the coaches did not like him. That he was disruptive and cost them as many games as he won them. I heard that they were glad to get rid of him. Yes, he was a physically tallented guy, but he was not a team player, at all. There is no way that lillard compares to him. Not even close, Lillard is so much better. Those Montanan's must be smokin the good stuff, or it's just sour grapes.

it is pathetic that ewu went 8-8 his last yr. he was an amazing player. your telling me they werent good enough to get a winning record in 2007????? that was the yr we had co-champs with an 11-5 record. i dont think the sky was that great that year. when the conf champ gets a 15 seed its not a dominant year by any means for the sky.

a new coach in 2007 brougth in 10 new recruits and took a last place team to 1st place!

I agree sounds like a bad case of 'haterism'. It's says a lot when up to 15 or so NBA GMs (not scouts) are coming to see for themselves. Must have been one of Cherry's friends. :blah:

I agree. Sour grapes from some grizz fan who has a ruffie hang over.

I would take D-lill hands down.

Arky has called him D-Lill for a few years now. I am fairly certain I heard D-Lill for the first time from Wildcat Carl Arky (who is in my opinion the best play by play announcer in the state and Big Sky).

the bay area bomber is good. I get a little tired of hearing him say the fly guy. The great Dame is good too. I love Mahoner, especially whoever made that sign (I believe for the USU game) that said I have a Mahoner
