It't tough to post a third of the great articles and stories about Lillard but this was a good one. Again showing his character is one of his best qualities:

"One of the first things Lillard did as a professional was sign a deal with Adidas. That wouldn't be anything special if he hadn't included in the negotiations a sponsorship for the AAU Oakland Rebels.

Lillard, who was considered a two-star recruit by Rivals.com in high school, grew up playing for the Rebels, who didn't have the same sponsorships as the world-renowned Oakland Soldiers. So Lillard and his teammates had to grind out fundraising events just to play in tournaments.

"I want to give guys a step up from what I went through," Lillard said. "I want them to be seen on trips and have chances for scholarships with nice shoes and uniforms, so they feel good about themselves and can play their best.""

"It wasn't the outcome he wanted, but it was still a career night for Trail Blazers rookie Damian Lillard.

Playing in his native Oakland, Calif. for the first time as an NBA player, Lillard exploded in the second half, scoring 29 points (17 in the fourth quarter) on the way to a career-high 37. Lillard's Herculean second-half effort wasn't enough, however, to dig Portland out of a 20-point hole, as the Blazers' comeback bid fell short, 103-97.

Here's a few notes on Lillard's career night from the Trail Blazers:

• Damian Lillard's 29 points in the second half (12-16 FG, 5-7 3-PT) are just three shy of the team record for points in a half (32, Darius Miles).

• Lillard is just the 7th player this year with 37 pts, 6 reb and 4 ast in a game (Kevin Durant, 3; Carmelo Anthony, 2; James Harden, 2; DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James, Paul Pierce).

• Lillard set the Trail Blazers rookie record for three-pointers made (7).

• Lillard is the fourth rookie in NBA history to record 37 points and 7 3s in a game - Jason Kidd, Brandon Jennings, Rodrigue Beaubois (Elias).

• Lillard is just the fourth Trail Blazers rookie to score 37 points in a game -- Geoff Petrie, 10; Mychal Thompson, 1; Calvin Natt, 1 (Elias)."

I was in the stands watching Damian and couldn't believe I saw him do that in 16 minutes! :shocking: Glad to see the Wildcats picking up where they left off. :clap: Hopefully, we can knock off Montana this season! Plan on watching tonight's game. It's the first one I've been able to catch since the season started.
