Montana State?? I agree, talented and well coached team. iewever, Fish hasn't addressed his biggest issues: rebounding, inside play, and most importantly offensive consistency outside of Tyler Hall.
They do have a top notch point guard and Hall. Their problem has been any kind of an inside game. offensively or defensively. They have added a bit there. Is it enough? Who really knows. IMO, their problems will be similar to last year.
IMO, the teams who have added the most, to improve on the deficiencies, have been Weber, Montana and Idaho State. everyone else is either treading water or losing ground. Portland State and Sac are total unknowns because of the number of JC transfer on their rosters and how that relates to what they had to do to improve on where they were at the end of last season.
I think picking Harding as a second team pick is about right. However, IMO, Brekkott Chapman will make a run at MVP and present everyone with matchup problems. UM has a couple of guys who may do the same thing.
UI is very, very good. However they are skating on thin ice. One injury to any starter and they are counting on a freshman to step up and be a man. No injuries and they will be solid. One injury and they are an also ran. Same thing can be said for Montana State. If they have an injury to one of their top 3 guys, they suddenly become a lower tier team.
On Paper, UM and WSU have the depth to withstand an injury or two.
I know that everyone likes to look at a teams star player and make an evaluation on that, but over all strength and depth will win out over the length of the season. Sometimes the best teams don't have the best individuals. Their strength comes from consistent depth and a culture for winning.
