Linebackers coaching search

Does anyone have any word or news on how this search is going? I'd hope that with spring drills happening starting next week, someone has been hired, or is close to being hired.

FWIW, our conference rivals, NAU, lost their OC to SJSU.

IIRC, according to Joe Davidson he wasn't. But difficult to verify, as a list of candidates was never released. Publicly, I think Sperbeck said that Matt Hammer form Weber was OC he was considering. Then came the great surprise of Peterson.

NAU will have a tough year next year. It will be a rebuilding year. Not because they lost many seniors, but because they lost many coaches on both sides of the ball.
 
Yeah I think the NAU OC coming here was a rumor only. I think NAU is looking for a new AD who once hired will have his hands full with finding a new men’s hoops HC. It might but solely up to Sours to find a new OC.

As far as our LB coach search is considered, hopefully the right fit is brought in soon. From what I recall Avalos left quite a while back so the search should have been going on for some time now.
 
There IS precedent (kind of).

Back in the '60s, the Rams fired HC George Allen. A huge influx of negative fan reaction forced his almost immediate re-hire.

If I could suggest someone to Sperbeck, it would be Lenny Rodriguez- DC/LB coach at Mt. SAC here in SoCal.
I like the aggressiveness of his D. He uses a mix bag of 3-4 & 4-3 schemes. Has DI experience, and for most of his tenure at Mt. SAC, the mounties have won the JUCO NC or made deep into the post season.
