LOOKING GRIM

Feels like forcing a square peg into a round whole approach. Can't wish it so.

Given the PAC-12 players threatening a boycott I think it's time to end all athletic scholarships and go back to true student athletes. Too much money has corrupted the whole dam thing.
 
Last week I was in Montana for my father's funeral and I heard from the radio that a home football game in Missoula pumps 3 million dollars into the local economy. I'm sure it is similar in places like Bozeman, Flagstaff, Cedar City and San Luis Obispo. Here, probably not as much as PSU football does not have the same type of impact on Portland's economy. That is not the impact on the various universities, but rather the impact on the community by not having a home football game. That is some serious money out there and something they are probably considering.

Better to be considering long term health of any athletes that might contract the virus. The Big Sky Conference should not put their student athletes in harms way to protect local economies. Such behavior would be unethical and immoral.

We could say the same thing about Corvallis and Pullman. No doubt Gameday is big on the local economies there, too, bigger than any of the major cities of the Pac-12. It is not just the Big Sky.

Idaho returning quarterback Mason Petrino has since tweeted out that this report is false. Just saying a bunch of misinformation about the virus has been attributed to "anonymous" sources. Having to deal with Jason Quick's "anonymous" sources about the Blazer troubles awhile back has made me skeptical about these types of sources. I'm not saying there is no truth to them, I am just saying I would be a little leery about relying on them 100%.

Petrino is not on the scene. He graduated last year and is now a graduate assistant at Lamar University in Texas.

Viks would not be able to start practice until Multnomah County is in Phase 3 of reopening. Currently the county is in Phase 1.

After football was "pushed back":, I am slowly realizing that we may not see any college athletics during this upcoming school term. Pro sports is one thing, but to expect these kids (and that is exactly what they are at this point in their lives) to try to play in the middle of this pandemic, with no clear idea of how to combat it, is borderline insane, in my opinion. :twocents:
