Love and hate this time of the year

With success at our level usually come loss as we have seen with our last couple of tournament teams it didn't take long for coaches to depart.

I just saw that UNLV's coach got snapped up.

I would really like for coach Legans to stay and build a dynasty like GU has done down the road. I really feel like we are on the cusp of making that happen with the returners we have coming back and the recruits we have coming in.

Totally get wanting the financial stability for your family though.

At least extend him now and add some type of a provision in his contract if he does want to move to move on were the school gets compensated for leaving early by the school who is taking him.

I heard this from alum...I laughed..that PSU was wanting Legans. A less than lateral move with the team he has coming back. He may be in the money after next years success.

PSU as in Portland State, or Penn State?

Penn State would be an upward move, at least in terms of money, but has no basketball tradition and Legans is a West Coast guy with West Coast connections and probably wouldn't be a great fit.

Portland State is a completely laughable proposition. Eastern's finances are better than Portland State, Eastern is much better from a competitive standpoint, and Portland is a problem in terms of cost of living, and quality of living, both. Living in the area, you'd be hard-pressed to find a city with more steeply declining quality of living in the country... this city has become a shithole of drugs, crime, and despair.

FWIW, I'd imagine there are lots of big programs that would be interested by Legans. He's in a great position. He's got a great track record, has charisma for days, and comes across as a totally likeable guy that kids enjoying playing for. Plus, he's a young black coach, and I'm sure there are a lot of programs that would value that. The truth is we probably get him for one year more at best, but he's been brilliant during his time in Cheney. I hope he's wildly successful wherever he goes.

Given he attended Cal, and Cal is rotten at hoops lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they came hard for him. It's not like Cal is short on money. I don't know how his time at Cal ended, but if he's on good terms with them, he could be their guy for the future. The problem is whether he'd really want to jump into the Pac-12, which seems like it's a dying conference.

Dopa, it was Portland State...absurd as it sounds. Never happen for all the reason you gave. He was serious when he told me...he had to be misinformed. Concur that he ends up at Cal or nearby. Next year will be a great season and a platform for next level $$$. I wonder if UNLV would be interested, that program has underperformed for years full of transfers. They need to get a recruiter and build that program up. 98 said it, EWU needs to extend contract...soon.

Funny you should mention PSU...my thinking on this question all started with me trying to find a former co-workers brother who coached there a few years ago and seeing where he ended up....Portland Pilots have a opening...but I doubt for all the reasons you already stated that he goes there. I really hope it is at least another year we have so much coming back and would love to see us go back to back for the first time in program history.

98, you know the guy who told me that said Portland...I assumed it was PSU...now that yo mentioned that..lol...either way...no.

We all worry about losing our coach and it is a valid concern but why hasn't any school made a run at Travis Decuire yet?
