Loyola Marymount

Home game Saturday against surprising Loyola Marymount at 7pm at the Pavilion. The Lions, once again from the WCC, are from Los Angeles, CA, more specifically the Westchester neighborhood. They currently are 9-1, reigning winners of the Jamaica Classic tournament where one of the teams they beat was Georgetown. They also have wins over UNLV and Cal St-Fullerton. Their only loss was to UCLA. Portland State is their only Big Sky opponent on the schedule. They have no one on their roster from the Pacific Northwest.

What was that!

That was a likely mid-level WCC team demonstrating which conference owns the west this year. This, of course, begs a question about Terry Porter.

Woods does need to call his own number a bit less.

We came up on the short end of the score, 85-58. This is what happens when you go up against a team with wins over Georgetown and UNLV, and you've got wins over Portland Bible and Multnomah. Gonzaga has elevated the WCC profile over the years and as we've seen in the last two games, other WCC teams have adopted the "get with them or get out" philosophy. I do agree with Pounder, it does not look good for UP this season.

I was out of town this past weekend so I had to miss the LMU game, but boy does that box score look terrible. I get the bad shooting which has been a thorn in our side so far this season, but getting beat on the boards? That's our bread and butter. :-\
