Hornets tip off the regular season on the road this Friday at 13th ranked Gonzaga. Should be a good experience for the players and fans. Game will be on Root Sports. A win is unlikely, but we'll see how tough the Hornets play against a top notch program.

Excited to see how to men's team is going to respond to this extremely difficult challenge. A victory will be to loose the game less than double digits. My prediction, 84-68. Obviously, if the team wins this game, it will put Sac State on the map forsure.

A great first game to the 2015-16 season.

Go for it Hornets!!!

Time to have a year with winning games on the road.

Go Sac State!!!

I must have missed the 2014-2015 season.....my bad

Only down 34 at the half? You're kidding me; we look worse than last year! We're lucky we play in the Big Sky Conference where we may have a chance to be competitive. If McKinney doesn't play we're really lost out there, altho you'd think we could still play some defense. It's real hard to watch...............

Do we know why Mikh isn't playing? Haven't been able to listen...

Some kind of discipline issue, will be back next game.

Wow, not a good start...

104-58 Loss. Had I known McKinney wasn't going to play, I wouldn't have wasted a trip to the bar to watch it (and I would have bet the farm on Gonzaga). Hornets hung with them for the first 5 or 6 minutes but it quickly got out of hand from there. A lot of early turnovers allowed this to unravel early. I hope Tiffin only started because of Gonzaga's size, otherwise he will remain a liability on the offensive side of the court. Garrity had some miscues but was the only scorer early on. Stuteville took a little time to get in stride but he had some moments. Demps...eh, struggled from the perimeter and his drives to the hoop were mostly ineffective. Hornsby got into early foul trouble. Defense was bad. That said hard to take a whole lot away from this game given the opponent. The Hornets were at a huge size disadvantage and were out gunned. The Hornets are better than what we saw tonight and they will play better.

I did like Katz emptying the bench and letting the newcomers get a lot of run in the 2nd half. I was surprised it took so long to put Stuteville 2 in the game. I'm not going to lie, it was entertaining (given the circumstances) watching Jackson run around the court.

Hornets need to rebound at Rivertucky on Monday. That is a must win IMO.

EDIT: That was Herrick that got in late, not Stuteville 2. Hmmm.

Well what can you say.....We got a solid whoopin last night.....Gonzaga is a definite Final Four possibility....I saw Gonzaga play UOP last year and this team is MUCH better. They have as many as 5 possible NBA players (Wesley, Sabonis, Pangos for sure and Karnowski and Wiltger have a shot. Trying to find a positive is hard but I saw some things that bode well for the future. Marcus Graves is going to be a real good player, as is Justin Strings. E. Stuteville played very hard all night and I guarantee Sabonis will remember him this morning when he wakes up. Eric put his shoulder into Sabonis's solarplexes so many times Sabonis was visually hurting and they had to take him out. I don't think they put him back in until Eric fouled out. I disagree with you SD on the play of Cody Demps. He was playing the point a lot and I think he did a credible job in an emergency situation. He played good D even though the refs gave him 2 quick, cheap fouls. This team will play much better when McKinney comes back and everyone can go back to their regular roles. I think the most telling stat is 5 total assists. Dylan played very good on both ends. It may end up a red shirt year for Mason Stuteville as he didn't play last night. I don't know any thing for sure so don't read too much into that. Other than that I can't wait to get out of the cold (low of 15 and high of 32 for the last three days here)

Hornets are in southern California right now where it is much warmer and hopefully having some good practices before taking on Riverside Monday night.

Gonzaga is an amazing program with their sold out 6,000 seat arena. Hopefully we got a nice pay check and hopefully we have an arena soon like the Bulldogs who used to be in the Big Sky decades ago. And now a program who can beat anyone on any night.

Go Hornets!!!

After seeing Gonzaga in person I feel they are under rated at #13, Sabonis is as good a freshman as I can imagine anyone having. He is much better than Karnowski and the team plays quicker and cleaner with him in the game.
