The Hornets (8-6, 3-3 BSC) are coming off of a big road victory at EWU and head to Pocatello to face a feisty Idaho State (3-12, 2-4 BSC) team that is coming off of a hard fought loss to rival Weber State. ISU is yet another one of the many BSC programs in rebuild mode but it looks as the Hornets are catching them in an upswing as they won two in a row prior to the WSU loss. Fatigue may be an issue for ISU as this matchup will be their 3rd game in 6 days.

Individual Stats: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/304/idaho-state-bengals

ISU’s leading scorers are guard (#3) Melvin Morgan (12.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.3 spg) and swingman (#20) Chris Hansen (10.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.2 spg). Another Bengal contributor is guard (#1) Tomas Sanchez (9.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.6 bpg) who is battling an Achilles injury. ISU also should get center (#13) Jakub Kusmieruk back from academic issues. ISU wants to slow the game down as they run a very low tempo style. They want to limit opposing possessions and keep it a low scoring affair. They are not a great shooting team but were effective attacking the basket against WSU. Defensively they can pressure the ball as well as drop back into a zone. WSU had great success attacking the paint off of some good ball movement. ISU also struggled with rotation on the perimeter passes that left players open for perimeter shots.

The Hornets cannot sleep on this ISU team and this is another must win game. Aside from the low tempo, ISU plays a very similar style to the Hornets on both ends of the court. A respectable shooting night and good defense coupled with good ball control should be enough for the Hornets to get a win. Given that I am coming down with a bit of the GCM curse, I am not sure I will tune into this one. It might have to be a game time decision.

Go Hornets!!!

Anyone able to get BSTV to work? The other games are streaming fine, looks like someone at ISU forgot to plug in the feed. :ohno:

29-21 Hornet lead at the half. Hornets had a strong last 6 minutes or so to break open a close one. ISU got a miracle 3/4 court shot at the buzzer. Garrity and Eberhard are in foul trouble. Hornets are clearly the better team, but some sloppy play and poor shooting has kept this one from getting out of hand. ISU has not shot the ball well but have made key shots in certain moments. The Hornets need to win this one and should with a solid 2nd half.

Hornets loss 60-59. Embarrassing loss here and a huge hit to post season hope. Garrity had an awful game but you have to question why Katz ran an inbound play to D'ville prior to his missed FT and subsequent game winning shot by ISU.
