M: Katz is Co-COY!

Well deserved. Turned a doormat program into a competitive program and got us our first winning season. Let's hope this program stays competitive in the years to come.

Add National Mid-Major Coach of the Year accolades to his resume' as well. Any coach that comes into a program with garbage facilities like ours and builds a program from the ground up largely with HS recruits that culminates with a 20+ win season definitely deserves this award.

I have to imagine his phone will be ringing off the hook in the near future, if it isn't already. Given the recent failure by admin to get an events center up (again), what reason does he have to stick around?

Where is Clarkgrizwald now?? I think this award trumps BSC COY but both are equally hard earned. Katz is a class act and I'm glad to see he is finally getting recognized by not only the rest of the nation but our own fans too. I remember not too many years ago there was a fire Katz thread and a lot of support on it also. Some of the people who were on that thread have already eaten their words and others have just disappeared. Very happy for Coach Katz. I don't think he will entertain any other offers unless it is one he can't refuse. Katz is a Sacramento guy and I think he is happy here, but a good raise wouldn't hurt keeping him. SD, you should make sure those Montana cry babies hear about this.

Coach Katz has done a mazing job with this program not only on the court but off the court as well. Over a 3.0 GPA is just awesome. And the way the crowds came pouring in this year was truly a awesome experience. I know for a fact that the he is willing to move on if the right situation comes up... Sac St better give him a huge raise if they want to keep him. His record has improved each and every year!!!! The players will also tell you they have learned more about life than basketball as well which is what sports were intended to do. Come on Sac St do whatever you have to do we can not lose Brian Katz!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Coach K.!!!

Very much deserved.

Hope the new President and AD provides Coach K with what he needs to continue to build the program. A raise for Coach K and a new facility for the players, students, fans and community. All Hornets deserve the best and deserve a Division 1 facility and everything it takes to continue to make the program relevant and growing in the future. And trust that the future means like right now. Get a new facility built.

The new president Nelsen has been active on Twitter since getting the new gig, retweeting Hornet Sports achievements and using #StingersUp on almost every tweet. This is very encouraging...

Good to hear that President Nelson is already a Hornet!!! Hopefully he will be the biggest Hornet of us all.

Stingers Up seems to be as popular now as Go hornets. Coach Sears always ends his emails to me with Stingers Up.

Always nice to have coaches who take the time to email back. Reminds me of Coach Bob Mattos who took the time to communicate to all Hornet supporters. And we all know what an incredible Hornet he was.

Stingers Up!!!!

Yup, that crow was delicious.
Those folks aren't worth my time. They are probably still butt hurt about their coach "getting snubbed" for the BSC COY nod. It's good to see Katz follow up his BSC COY with a national award to boot.

He has been tweeting about the new dorm and other master plan info as well, though nothing about an events center. Can't help but think he has at least looked at the issue.
