M: vs Northern Arizona

The Hornets (10-9, 5-6 BSC) post season largely hinges on this huge 3 game homestand this week. It begins tonight against NAU (7-14, 4-7 BSC) who only has 1 BSC road win this season. Veteto is listed as questionable so the Hornets may need to find a way to win without him. The Hornets will need to find a way to slow down NAU’s tandem guard attack of Gabe Rogers and Dewayne Russell; otherwise those two could very well put on a clinic and leave The Nest with a win.

The Hornets really need to sweep this homestand to put themselves in good shape heading into the last 6 BSC games. More than likely the Hornets will finish 1-5 in the final 6 BSC games as 4 of them are on the road and one of the home games will be a loss to Weber State so winning out this week is imperative for a post season berth.

Watching the game right now(should probably be working on homework), and I just wanted to say that it's nice to see you guys have a loud student section going on :thumb:

62-61 Hornet loss. Hornets blow another double digit halftime lead (10 points this time and a 14 point lead midway through the 2nd half) and drop a must win game to one of the worst road BSC teams. At best the Hornets will be fighting for the last spot in the BSC Tournament but it's pretty safe to turn out the lights on this season. No need for a rant on this one, this is just par for the course as far as Katz is concerned.

61-55 Hornet victory last night against EWU. A 17-7 run over the final 8 minutes got this program a close win that was desperately needed. A good night from the charity stripe was also a key part of the game. Garrity, Dickson, and Eberhard led the way in scoring and Demps posted a solid showing as well.

M: vs Portland State

The Hornets (11-10, 6-7 BSC) host PSU (5-15, 3-10 BSC) in a must win game at The Nest. Hornets are coming in off a good close win over EWU and PSU comes in fresh off of a road loss at NAU. PSU has seemed to have had our number but the Hornets need to step up and grab a win before the brutal finish to the season.

Our record is over .500 and we're tied for 6th in conference, but our season's over?

Give me a break!
4 of the last 6 BSC games are on the road, one of the home games will be a loss to Weber. More than likely the Hornets finish the conference on a 1-5 run. We needed a sweep this homestand, but the season can be salvaged with a win against PSU and then 2 wins somewhere in the final 6 (home vs ISU should be a win). One road game is at UM so that is a loss, so the Hornets will need to steal a road win either at UND, UND, or MSU. A win at either of those places will not be easy.

Assuming the Hornets defend The Nest against PSU and ISU that puts us at a 8-12 BSC record. Maybe that gets us the 7th seed, maybe it doesn't. Steal a road win and we are at 9-11 and most likely get a berth. Those blown losses at ISU, at SUU, and vs NAU are killing us right now. :x

38-32 Hornets lead the Vikes at the half. Hornets lead by as much as 12. McKinney is going off and Veteto looks healthier. Good shooting and team play on the offensive side through the first half. Katz needs to find a defense that can stop giving PSU open looks. He has tried a bunch of different looks and nothing is working. PSU has scored too easily at times and PSU went on a small run to end the half that was fueled by wide open looks from the perimeter. This should be a close one.

PSU puttin on a clinic and running away, Hornets just rolling over.

Zero consistency. I wonder what exactly happens in the locker room at halftime. The Hornets look like a completely different team in the 2nd half. Absolutely frustrating.

Eberhard is Mr. Clutch.

Ok Katz, just get the inbound pass to your solid free throw shooters and we pull this one out.

77-71 Hornets win. Great win, they had to dig deep for that one and they pulled it off. McKinney was huge throughout the game. Veteto was very solid as well. Dickson made some great plays down the stretch and Eberhard was clutch followed by Garrity putting the game away from the charity strip. If it wasn't for this Red Trolley Ale I wouldn't have been able to get through this one. Congrats to Katz and the Hornets. Phew.
