The Hornets (7-5, 2-2 BSC) are coming off of a much needed win and head to the Pacific Northwest to play PSU and then EWU. PSU (3-8, 1-3 BSC) has had a rough year and only has 1 D-1 win. The Vikings had a tough OOC schedule and have already played the two best BSC teams the past few weeks. The Hornets will need to jump all over this down PSU team.

PSU looks to spread the ball around well as they have four players averaging double digit scoring. They also appear to be a well balanced offensive team as they are comparable with the Hornet scoring numbers. The Vikings do look to give up a lot on the boards which is where the Hornets need to take advantage in this one. PSU forwards (#30) Renado Parker (11.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg), and (#21) Aaron Moore (10.5 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.1 apg) lead the way in the frontcourt. Guards (#4) Michael Harthun (10.3 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.2 apg) and (#1) Lateef McMullan (10.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.0 spg) shore up the backcourt. It’s going to take a team effort to slow down PSU’s offense.

The Hornets will need to find a way to win on the road. PSU does not have great defense so the Hornets should be able to put up points if they find their stride. Both of these games on this road trip are winnable and the Hornets will need to win at least one of these games to position themselves for post season play.

Go Hornets!!!

Another masterful knockout punch by the inestimable SD.

If the stats have anything to say, this could get ugly (from a PSU perspective) fairly quickly. Let's hope it does....

PSU took WSU into OT and lost a close one to UM. Given the offensive struggles the Hornets are having coming into this game coupled with a hand injury to Dickson (any status on him?), I think the Hornets could be in some trouble here.

If there is to be any hope for the post season, the Hornets can do no worse than 2-2 on this 4 road game stretch. I think 3 of the 4 are winnable with EWU and ISU being must wins. No way we win at Ogden next week. :twocents:

Dickson is good to go and will play tomorrow. Hornets really need to try and steal one game whether it is Thursday or Saturday and then again next week at Idaho St. Best case scenario 2-2 road trip sets the hornets up very nicely for a home stretch with 5 of 6 at home all winnable games.

What was the prognosis on his hand?

Not sure on the prognosis just heard that he is playing tonight.

40-33 PSU lead at the half. PSU has a lot more athleticism than the Hornets. Pretty solid shooting for the Hornets but they had a handful of wasted possessions. They need to pick it up on the defensive end if they want to pull out a win as PSU found their offensive stride after the first 5 minutes of the game.

The Hornet "D" has disappeared the last 10 minutes of the first half and we trail 40 to 33 over a very beatable PSU team. Hornets giving up way too many easy baskets underneath and PSU is canning some lucky three's. Hornets sloppy on passing and it's hurting us now; we don't look like we really want it, but PSU does. Dickson again taking some of his wild shots that should be out of his system being a fourth year starter.

We could catch up, but we need to wake up!

I thought the Hornets were going to be better on the road this year, but I guess not; same lousy road team as Portland State slaughters us. No "D" anywhere to be found; giving up six three's in a row will do it. Katz made an awful lot of substittutions; I thought I was watching a Jenkins team. I would have left Veteto in longer tho. 87 to 69 wipe out. Where is Eberhard? He needs to take some shots and get going offensively. All around, poor effort/game for the Hornets.

87-69 PSU win. PSU couldn't miss from beyond the arc and ran away with it early in the 2nd half by draining 7 straight 3's. Poor transition defense coupled with great PSU ball movement and a hot hand turned this one into another Katz laugher. PSU had no problem scoring inside either. It was pretty evident early on that the Hornets were not prepared for this athletic PSU lineup. The Hornets did shoot the ball better but of course it came in a game where it made no difference. Hornets are facing a must win at EWU.

At least Katz was smart enough to start emptying the bench with 10 minutes to go. May as well rest Dickson (looks like he is fine btw), Garrity, and Veteto for the next game. I got a good laugh watching Carbs, Groom, and the other scrubs throw up brick after brick in the waning moments of the game.
