The Hornets (6-3) travel to Stanford (5-4) tomorrow in their final OOC road game. The Cardinal have won 3 of their last 4 with their lone loss coming to Texas in the final seconds of the game. The game will be on the Pac 12 Bay Area channel. The Cardinal have 4 players averaging 12.2 ppg or more. Stanford has a pair of forwards, Rosco Allen (14.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Reid Travis (12.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg), and a pair of guards, Marcus Allen (13.3 ppg, 2.7 apg) and Dorian Pickens (12.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg) leading the way. As a team Stanford is averaging 45% from the floor (39% from 3) and 66% from the stripe.

I think the Hornets will struggle in this one. Stanford has seemed to get things in gear and have players that can score in the frontcourt and backcourt. The Hornets have had over a week to get things together but it appears that the road struggles are back for this program. It will take a great effort to steal a win in Naples tomorrow night.

I tend to agree SD but Reid Travis didn't play against Texas yesterday so I'm not sure about his availability. Pickens shot lights out against Texas (6-7 from beyond the arc) so maybe he'll have a down day against us. Our chances of them overlooking us may be better with their win against Texas but that is just a hope. We really need to get back to playing like we did against ASU and just win the game. I'm going to the game, so I hope we play up to our capabilities. Our guys always give it everything they have so they have a fighting chance.

If Sac State wants to have any shot at winning this game they need to keep Stanford off the FT line, they get to the line a ton and Sac State has been committing way too many fouls this year. Another key is to keep Pickens and Allen off the 3 Pt Line. I think Graves has a big game tonight.

It's pretty crazy to talk about Sac State having road woes considering they won at Arizona State and Seattle this year.

The refs are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE in this Stanford game, total home team bias!!! Watching the Arizona State game, even at the the time we were down, the calls were actually fair!
QUICK Whistle on every single call for Stanford, as for the Hornets, it takes the second or third bump to get a call or no calls at all. :ohno:

After the Game:***After the 10 minute mark of the second half, the calls became more fair, but the damage was already done. Demps, E. Stut. both foul out...valiant effort from the boys, did'nt give up. Games was alot closer than the score indicated.
And is that George Dancer, the 2016 Recruit, behind the Hornet bench? Or am I totally off? haha

That was Georgie behind the bench. Hornets never quit and had it even with 5 mins left but went 2-10 the rest of the way. I don't like "good losses". If we get a few calls for us and a few less against us, and make a few shots down the stretch, we win. Game was definitely closer than the final score. I liked our defense for the most part (when we were at full strength) and we shot the ball pretty well except for the last 5 mins. Cleaned up the bad turnovers too. All in all a pretty good showing.

70-60 final. I made the trip, glad I did as it was well worth it. A solid Hornet contingent showed up and we were much louder than the paltry showing by Stanford fans. Great effort by the Hornets. I thought the fouls were bad but the Hornets were slow on a lot of rotations which caused them to reach. Even with the fouls, the Hornets adjusted and played tough against a Stanford team that had a significant height advantage. We didn’t lose this game due to the refs. The Hornets battled, just couldn’t make a clutch shot late when it was a 2 point game and then we ran out of gas in the closing minutes. Multiple 3’s went in and out in that crucial time and the Hornet fans would have went ape shit if one of those shots drops. If the Hornets can bring this level of intensity ever week from here on out we’ll be just fine.

Taped this on Pac 12 network as I was Christmas shopping. Bill Walton talked about having lunch with Katz, and really spoke well about the program and how he felt this was the up and coming program and had already knocked off ASU this year, etc.

This game was much closer than the score indicated and the next night Bako lost to Stanford by almost 40, and ASU beat a top 25 team, which makes our win over ASU look even better.

Was great to see a good Hornet fan turn out and you could hear it on TV as the Sac State fans were loud and cheering . Way to represent on the road in the Bay Area.

Was great to hear all the compliments Bill Walton was making about the Sac State program. He did blow it when talking about Sac State no longer having a football team. The other announcer quickly corrected him and
Bill apologized. Remember when Bary Tompkins did the same thing a few years ago. Interesting where the belief that Sac State does not have a football program any longer can arise? Anyway, great showing by the Hornets and they fought all the way as this team does.

Loved Walton's winter solstice intro. Bill left the sixties, but the sixties never left him.
