M: vs ISU

The Hornets close out this disastrous home stand against a deplorable ISU 3-13 (1-4) program. ISU’s coach resigned a coupe of weeks back and ISU’s only BSC win was against a reeling UNC team that a week ago came into The Nest and knocked off the disappointing Hornets. If the Hornets loss this game we can close the book on this season. Aside from WSU and UM atop the BSC, the rest of the conference is a complete jumble and a couple of BSC wins can get the Hornets back into the swing of things. Unfortunately winning is something that continues to elude this program under Katz and its hard to believe this will much change this season.

ISU has 3 players averaging double digit scoring but the team production drops off heavily from there. A trio of guards Morgan (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.4 apg), Grabau (11.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.6 apg), and McGowen (10.6 ppg, 2.0 apg) lead the Bengals and this team revolves around them. The Hornets will have to find a way to defend these key players.

ISU team stats:
  • • 62.1 points/game
    • 29.6 rebounds/game
    • 11.6 assists/game
    • 6.6 steals/game
    • 2.1 blocks/game
    • 14.9 turnovers/game
    • 41.2 FG%
    • 66.9 FT%
    • 32.5 3-PT%
ISU opponent stats:
  • • 71.6 points/game
    • 33.9 rebounds/game
    • 13.6 assists/game
    • 6.6 steals/game
    • 3.4 blocks/game
    • 14.8 turnovers/game
    • 47.7 FG%
    • 72.2 FT%
    • 41.3 3-PT%

Go Hornets!!!

Great game Hornets!! Up 22 with 11 minutes left and lose to the 2nd worst team in conference at home. I have been a proponent of Katz, but this loss makes me sick!!

68-67 ISU final. Wow. A big lead and the Hornets choke again. This pathetic loss ends the season and ends any hope that Katz can find success here. The Hornets will be lucky to win another game this season. Time to chase Katz out of town. I thought I was going to hold off until after next season to start the “fire Katz” rants given what returns but there is no point in waiting. It is clear Katz won’t get it done and he just isn’t D-1 material. Time for him to pack his sh!t and leave. Thanks to Wanless’ brilliance, he has another 3 years still on his contract. There is no way anyone can wait that long to get rid of this guy.

LOL at not D-1 material, he wasnt JC material...I dont know anyone would sign a contract for so long with a coach without a proven D-1 winning record. smh

Um...if Katz isn't JC material, then you have some 'spainin' to do. Katz had an outstanding record for a VERY long time at Delta. SD may or may not have a point about coaching at the D-I level. SD gets some leeway because he's been a valued contributor here for a long time (and he's right MUCH more often than he's wrong). As a newbie, however, you take the point WAY too far when you say that Katz is not JC material. Given his record there, you have NO leg to stand on whatsoever.

:ohno:

Who gives a sh!t about what Katz accomplished at the JC level. Clearly none of that success transferred over to the D-1 ranks and whatever worked for Katz at JC isn’t working for him in D-1.

Everyone has the right to a contribution. Don't mind SH, he is the boards token UM fan, MSU fan, Liberty fan, UOP fan...well I think you get the idea. This place is where the good, the bad, and the ugly get posted. Feel free to join in at will.
