M: vs Portland State
The Hornets (8-8, 1-4 BSC) hosts Portland State (6-10, 2-3 BSC) this weekend. The Vikings edged a depleted Hornet team 3 weeks ago in Portland. PSU has since gone 1-3 with their lone win at Montana State and a close loss at home to Idaho State.

The Vikings have some size and balance and are led in scoring by forwards Cameron Forte (16.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg) and Isaiah Pineiro (12.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg). Guards Bryce White (11.5 ppg) and Calaen Robinson (10.3 ppg) round out the backcourt production for the Vikings.

Comparison: Hornets - Vikings
Points/Game: 73.9 - 75.3
Rebounds/Game: 36.6 - 37.7
Assists/Game: 14.8 – 16.9
Turnovers/Game: 12.5 - 12.9
Points Allowed/Game: 71.6 - 75.2

I think the Hornets can in this with a solid game. Should be a close one nonetheless.

I don't care if Demps is playing or not, what an embarrassing 1H performance. Strings once again the only one of the main guys to show and up Jiday the only player with any energy.

81-63 loss at home in front of a near capacity crowd. Embarrassing. The Hornets were run right off the court and this game was over 5 minutes in. No positives at all from lat night. Stuteville continues to prove he is nothing but a liability against smaller quicker lineups. There was a sense of desperation as Katz had Ugbaja run the point for quite a bit last night. Zero defense was played by the Hornets as they were completely dominated in every facet of the game. I think the worst of it is last night was a glimpse of what next season could look like. :ohno:

Well the regular season is over, the only hope is for Demps to come back at 100% so this team might have a chance to get out of the 1st round of the BSCT.

First game I haven't been to this year...looks like I picked a good one to miss....nice to hear from you GCM...guess you can go back into your hole for another 25 years, then you can come out and criticize the Hornets....are you actually a fan of the Hornets or do you just hang out till you can stick your head out of your hole and take cheap shots ? Some people are only happy when they're miserable...is that you GCM? At least I have to hand it to you....you are consistent...consistently negative.....

great to see an official sell out at Hornet Gym last night during winter break on campus. Sorry to see the results and hope the team pulls things together and gets the early season stride back Good luck on the road at Idaho and EWU

Only the players and coaches know what needs to be done to get things back on track and be competitive on the Road to Reno.

Go Sac State.

What is there to be positive about regarding this program?

Why don't you come back in 25yrs. and tell me how great they are? I have every right to complain when poor performance is exhibited. If it wasn't for me there would be no fans, or a message board.

You've got your head up your az smelling glue, have you read your posts? They read like something from 'little house on the prairie'. Grow a pair and stop sounding so golly gee whiz.

Have you ever posted after a win?? HELL NO...DOESN'T FIT IN YOUR SMALL WORLD....bet you are the life of the party too....oh yeah....can't call it a party when your alone.....nice of you to put yourself as the reason there are any fans or a message board....man....what an inflated ego....

The recent level of play is extremely disconcerting, but I think it's a funk this team can work through. Hell, if they have to rest Demps until the tourney in March, so be it.

Stuteville really has trouble with quick 6'7" or 6'8" bigs. I'd be matching him up against Hornsby every practice from here on out. Our permiter D is atrocious and Graves/Wu do not look comfortable bringing the ball up. Ugbaja has some nice handles and gets after it on D, but isn't really a consistent scoring threat. As a whole, too many ill advised skip passes getting ripped for easy layups/dunks the other way...

I think Katz can figure this out... I think a Demps/Ugbaja, Graves/Wu, Strings/Barlett, Hornsby/M. Stuteville, E. Stuteville/Herrick rotation can be competitive and gives us a shot at doing damage in Reno...

An ego is something people have when proud, nothing really resonates from J Street to make that connection from the marquee sports.

Yes, if it wasn't for sicko's like me keeping hope alive that perhaps, someday in a century, the school could figure out how to expire seasons with two consecutive winning records the program would have grown. In the past 25 yrs. the only change to the program and gym are a few banners, that is pathetic.

Only 600+ people give a sheep about this program, if that wasn't the case the school would have a 10,000 seat arena by now. So yes, if it wasn't for me and Super Hornet and recently SDH, you would be jerking off in a corner by yourself.

Everyone relax. The embarrassing loss sucks but as K pointed out, which I agree with, this team will move on. The backcourt is young and due to Demps’ injury Graves was thrust into a role he just wasn’t ready for yet. He’ll grow as will the other players. I didn’t mind Ugbaja running the point; he does have handles and energetic D. I just wish the guards would be more aggressive/less hesitant on the offensive side and put up more shots (especially when they have an open look).

Keep in mind Katz has hit the ceiling with this program. The garbage facilities are a major handicap on this program and competitive 500 ball is about the limit of expectations I have for this program. As awesome and enjoyable as last season was, that was the outlier for this program given the current facilities situation. For those not happy with the mediocre outlook/expectations of this program then throw down on the P1000 campaign so a new events center gets built, otherwise STFU and enjoy what Katz is doing here. He's playing with house money as far as I'm concerned.

As the immortal Aaron Rodgers once said R-E-L-A-X.

One crazy stat: this is the first time Sac State has lost consecutive home games since 2/23/12.
