Hornetsports Recap: http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/mbkb/2013-14/releases/20131109i411tr

Hornets rolled Santa Cruz 73-43 in what was basically another exhibition game. I caught most of the game. Hornets had a sloppy start but got it together and dominated the undersized UCSC lineup. Hard to tell how this team will matchup against real competition. Biggest concern was the struggles from the perimeter (4/13 from 3) and at the FT line, 15/29 (58.6%) just isn't going to get it done in what appears to be a foul happy NCAA season. Garrity had an off night from the charity stripe but it looks like Stuteville could be a liability from the stripe if he doesn't get it together. Hornsby looked good but again tough to tell given the opponent. We'll know more about where this team stands next week at Bako.

I was at the game and I saw some encouraging signs. First: Hornsby will have an impact this year. Second: Mills looked a lot better than the first game which means he will help this year too. Third: Stuteville moves very well for 6'11" freshman and he started to appear more comfortable. Quigley played a good game (no turnovers) and Tiffin is ready to bang in the middle. Salley was very active and stayed out of foul trouble. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the new guys showings. Next game against Bakersfield will be a tough one as Bako pushed Washington State right to the end in Pullman last night.

Joseph: As bad as our gym is, I would say that Riverside's is worse...and the problem is compounded by the fact that their fans (even the ones who bother to show up) are so wussified that they'll let ONE road fan take over the entire place. I know this because I've done it....

would agree I have seen the gym at Riverside. nothing to write home about. Riverside has got to be the w worst athletic program in Div I and I'm not being mean...i feel for them. It is certainly a top tier academic school as all the UC schools are.
