M: vs WSU & ISU, Final Home Stand

The Weber State game has been labeled a “White Out Night” and Saturday’s game against ISU is “Senior Night”. This will be the last time the Hornets play in The Nest this season and this will be the final chance for Hornet fans to see Dickson and the other seniors play in person. The Hornets are battling it out for one of the final slots in the BSC Tournament so a lot is at stake from here on out.

M: vs Weber State
The Hornets (13-12, 7-9 BSC) host a hot Weber State (20-5, 14-2 BSC) who is looking to try and steal home court advantage from UM in the BSCT. Both teams come into this one off of road wins as the Hornets stole a win at UCSB and WSU had an impressive win at Oral Roberts.

The Hornets played WSU tough in Ogden earlier in the season but WSU seems to have its sights locked in and are playing better than they have all season long. WSU leads the BSC in scoring and ranks atop the nation in field goal percentage. They have multiple players who can get it done from all angles so there are plenty of players that can pick up the slack for someone who is having an off night. I don’t like the Hornets’ chances in this one but hopefully the Hornets can hang with WSU for a while.

Go Hornets!

70-55 Hornet loss with a capacity crowd on hand which was good to see. Hornets played tough for 30 minutes, but the WSU shooting was too much to overcome. Great effort for the most part. Garrity needs to put up more shots. The worst part of tonight were wins by UNC, NAU, and MSU so the Hornets will need 2 wins in the final 3 games to make the BSCT. Hornets now face a must win against ISU on Saturday.

M: vs Idaho State

The Hornets (13-13, 7-10 BSC) host a struggling Idaho State (5-22, 4-13 BSC) who is coming into this one on a 3 game losing streak. This will be the final game in The Nest this season and final home game for all of the seniors. The Hornets are looking to avenge an embarrassing collapse in Pocatello earlier in the year which cost them a crucial BSC victory. This is a must win for the Hornets who need to win at least 2 of the final 3 games to even be in the BSCT discussion.

53-52 Hornets win. An ugly first half followed by a decent 2nd half allowed the Hornets to comeback from a 13 point deficit. Salley had a huge game (16 pts, 10 boards) and carried the Hornets last night. ISU couldn’t capitalize on poor Hornet free throw and field goal shooting in the closing minutes and the Hornets took down a much needed win.

NAU dropped a late lead to WSU and UM beat MSU to create a log jam for the last BSCT bids. No matter what the Hornets will need a win at either UM or MSU to get to postseason play. The Hornets have been struggling on the offensive end and will need to break out of that funk to have a chance on the road. UM plays at SUU on Monday. An SUU loss puts them into the 8-10 log jam as well.
