Not much needs to be said for this one. WSU is the favorite to win the BSC and the Hornets are a favorite to finish in the cellar. WSU is 9-3 (1-0) heading into this one and they boast one of the top scorers in the NCAA with Lillard (25.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.6 spg) and the Hornets will have no answer for him. WSU will also have 3-PT specialist Bamforth (14.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.4 apg) putting up points as well as a slough of other players the Hornets will try to defend. This game should be well in hand 10 minutes into the game and the Hornets will be lucky to lose by less than 25.

The Hornets don’t have anyone athletic enough to defend Lillard but Katz will need to double time him at all times to have any shot a slowing him down. With Jackson gone, the athleticism on the roster has dropped significantly and there isn’t anyone on the Hornet roster that can fill that void. If anything, I am hoping for the Hornets to show some semblance of life and some ability to play a full game of respectable hoops.

WSU team stats:

Go Hornets!

74-63 WSU final. I didn’t see any of it but it looks like the Hornets had a respectable showing. Dickson had a good game (20 pts, 5 boards) as did Eberhard (15 pts, 7 boards) and Hoffman (12 pts, 7 boards 3 assists). As expected Lillard put up a lot of points (22 pts, 9 boards) and he got plenty of help from Bamforth (19 pts) and dominant play inside from Tresnak (18 pts). Good to see them put up a fight against an overwhelming opponent. They shot well as a team and were a lot better from the charity stripe from a few days earlier. The Hornets now have a week off to prepare for UNC at The Nest. This team is desperate for a win.

I watched it. The effort was much better, they played better than Thursday, which isn't saying much. But they did do some things well. They still can improve on a lot. I was surprised that they didn't mail it in after being down 10 at the half and Weber getting up by 13, 14, 15 or so and the Hornets fighting back to cut it to 6 a couple times.

Carbajal doesn't have his conditioning back yet. Two offensive fouls looked horrible.
Estrada tweaked an ankle later in the game. I hope it's not bad because he was starting to get his stroke back.

I'm hoping to see some wins over the next two weeks. I think we have 3 home games in a row.
