FYI (anyone interested): Montana State is a 14 seed playing 3 seed Texas Tech in the Big Dance; hope the Bobcats can represent well--but expect another usual BSC auto-bid "one & done" experience. It's just a wish that they compete, & not get a beating (would say the same thing if it were the Wildcats).

No Utah teams in the NCAA dance :-( but USU vs. Oregon & BYU vs. Long Beach State in the NIT.

According to SE article (the last game for the Wildcats), the CIT (which didn't happen last 2 yrs.) is now called something else...The Basketball Classic? No news yet if Weber State is invited.

Agree with Chex & Bricks3's, why waste the $$? It likely would be a one & done experience anyway for the Wildcats?

I feel that it is more than just the money. It's how the team feels about it, how many players would be available, what is the benefit to the program, and that sort of thing. I'm sure that they have talked about it. It might be different if we had everyone returning next year. At least 3 and maybe all of our seniors will be signing with agents to play over seas. That would leave us with 7 or 8 guys available to play. I don't see much benefit to doing it.

Our coaches, at this point, need to focus on putting a team together for next year and beyond. Maybe it's time to invest in airline stocks. :coffee:

Makes sense...but yet again the same dull pattern. I can't help but feel as Chex does, it's an unexciting reality that Coach Rahe/Duft will be back at least for 2 seasons. One could wish that Rahe realizes it's time to retire (as his mentor Stew did) in looking back on the recent past yrs & then ahead. Other Big Sky programs have equaled or even raised the bar on their post season success expectations.

Perhaps Rahe/Duft need to do more than just focus on putting a team together for next year & beyond & do some soul searching as to why the present patterns persist. Of course, Weber State admin. & Rahe's faithful fans are satisfied with the "just enough" mediocre seasons. It's the players they point at, but the players change from year to year, & yet the same overall results!! Likely the OOC schedule will be weakened, other than the usual losses to in-state matches, to brag about the win streaks against so-so competition. But reality hits eventually that large losses to any higher level teams & BSC stiffer competition results in season ending disappointment again & again. :ohno:

Surely would think the boosters who contribute $90K each July to Coach Rahe's contract pay would be hesitant to continue after the contract finally expires...they aren't getting much bang for their bucks!! :twocents:

I still can’t believe that this team didn’t make the NCAA’s. Decent record, but I don’t care if it’s tired legs or marginal coaching, someone needs to answer for this. Make Rahe upgrade his coaching staff. Put Rahe on a performance plan. Anything to get this program back on track. Tell Rahe on his performance plan that wins against NAIA schools don’t count. Tell Rahe that D2 wins don’t count! Make him compete! This is clear, our coach is too comfortable! Our program is not getting better. Our coaches have figure out all you need to do is to inflate your win total! I see other BSC hoops programs fighting to improve. It’s about to be a very difficult league to win with the same tired formula.

should we be bothered by turning down the cit knowing its a 32 team field and they could only get 21 teams to participate? :coffee:
