Mathias Ward could be out 2-4 weeks

Ward is the 5th leading scorer in the Big Sky. This is a big loss for UM, & could change how things play out.

Yes. Ward is a big part of that team. However, lets be real, Cherry and Jamar run that show. The biggest thing about Ward, is that he seems to have a stabilizing effect on that team.

At least, other teams centers won't have to chase him all over the floor. :coffee:

Looking at the remaining schedules for both Weber and Montana, it would appear to me that the location of the conference tournament is still very much up in the air.............

The next two weeks will tell the tale. By 10PM, March 4th, we should know where we will be playing. Even though there are a couple of games after that, the deciding games will have already been played. :twocents:

Ward's injury is big for Montana. He is a huge presence for their front court, plus his ability to shoot from outside caused defensive coverage issues, he could burn you.Smart guy, a senior this year and close to completing his second (!) Masters degree. Wow.

I don't like seeing any player get injured.

Coming out of high school, Ward wasn't anything like he is now. He has really blossomed at UM. It sounds like he will be quite successful in life. More power to him! :thumb:

This is terrible news. You never want to hear about a player getting injured. I hope he has a speedy recovery and can finish his Sr. year off strong. I agree with Olds, Ward has really developed as a player. Tinkle doesn't have another guy who can fill the hole being created by Wards injury. Coleman can play the 4, but is undersized and is a better 3. Weisner, like Selvig before him, but nowhere close to being as good, can play the 4 or 3, but he is a bean pole. The Griz could really use Reader right now and the JC that was academically ineligible. Hutch and Martin are the only other 5s available for the Griz, which is what Ward mostly plays; yes he can play the 4. Ward is tough, can spread the floor (has a great outside shot), and has great basketball acumen. This is a terrible loss for the Griz. There isn't another player on that team that has the skills Ward has. Hutch is going to have to step up his game. If it is four weeks, that means his season and career are over. I hope it isn't. Nothing worse having to watch Bull last year not get a full Sr. season and only play at 60% after coming back. That was tough.

What happened? Why is he out?

2nd Masters in 5 years? YIKES!! You can tell he is a hard working guy who made the most out of his college scholarship. Sounds a bit like Mahoney. No matter what has happened, he can be extremely proud of how much he has developed as a player, scholar, and person.

BRETHREN, WARD IS A STUD, AND YOU'VE GOT TO RESPECT HIS BEARD... LOOKS LIKE WILFORD WOODRUFF ON "MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD", BRETHREN......... (EACH PERIOD SYMBOLIZES A WORD) HAHAHA LOOOOOOOOL :coffee: :coffee:

Montana's season is going a lot like ours did last year, with all the injuries. I don't wish it on anybody. It was hard for us last year, with Bull, Mook, and Hyack going down.

Ward is a very good player.

this is horrible news if he is out with injury.

can anyone send the article? i would like to read it.

I looked for it on eGriz and saw that it was being talked about. I didn't see a link to an article. They were saying that he got injured in the ISU game.

Griz are really thin upfront even with Ward healthy. Would be a big loss if he has to miss much time... hopefully the injury is not too serious.

Hate for this to happen to anybody, especially since it's happened to us so many times over the last few years.

My son had a similar injury a few years back. He was able to walk on it right away, but it was over a month before he could start to run on it. After he could run on it, it was another three or four months before he was back to 100%. If Ward has a high tolerance for pain, he could be back sooner. Also, he will have the best doctors and trainers. :coffee:

YES!!! bullinger out last yr in big sky and dame the year before. i still feel bad for bull after starting 100+ games to miss all of big sky basically.

And, Mook last year, as well. This year is the first full year that Mook has had in his colege career. The only major injury we have had this year is Fulton's knee. Mook fell on the ice, walking to practice, twisted his knee, and was sore for a few weeks, but didn't miss much playing time. Tres missed a game with some kind of a muscle strain, but it was a meaningless game.

We have been fairly lucky this year, in comparison to the previous two. :thumb:
