Meanwhile, in Missoula

I caught the 4th quarter and Montana's offense looked very pedestrian compared to what I saw from Eastern tonight. I saw their QB throw 2 or 3 picks just in that span.

Based on week one results, the Big Sky is no joke. Not a single team looked weak. UND and Portland State pull FBS wins, Cal Poly downs the team that KO'd #1 last weekend on the road, Idaho State wins by 55, even lowly Southern Utah and UC Davis play some respectable ball.

Almost not a single team.

Agreed, though I think they had to contend with a weather factor that had a pretty big impact on the game.

Fair enough, but we are talking about Northern Colorado here. They narrowly beat a D-2, but last year they lost to an NAIA team! I'd say they've actually shown some improvement...

This Montana game was on Altitude, but the production was by SWX. My understanding is that our game against UNI is going to be on SWX. Anyone know why that one won't be on Altitude? Maybe it has something to do with viewership. But I would love to see that game next week, and often my work schedule won't allow me to watch early Saturday games live. I need to DVR it. That's going to suck to miss it!

Granted, but pretty sure Cal Poly had to deal with the same weather. And they had to throw the ball a ton to get into field position to kick that winning FG. Cal Poly looks solid.

I wish that were the case. They only threw 3 times on that final drive. 2 quick outs that were complete and one that was incomplete. They used their triple option attack to get to the edges and sidelines and run out of bounds to stop the clock. They were able to do that successfully 3 times in a row. If the Griz make a tackle in bounds, game over. I can't pin it on the D.....they were incredible all night. Our O is what hurt us this time. 4 turnovers isn't going to win games. Lots of dropped passes by receivers as well. If you would have told me the Griz would hold Poly to 20 points, I would have said they win easily. Instead they hurt themselves offensively and blew it. Tough one to swallow.

EWU looks solid again. Big sky is going to be a battle!
