Media lacks PSU football info

So many big football stories in the past few months and I can't find any info about any of them, so I have to ask on the message board... Anyone have any more info on any of these issues?

1) PSU gets a transfer, Onwuasor, who was kicked off of his last team after facing 4 felony charges. Haven't heard a thing about it since. He's still being talked about like he's playing this season. Have these charges gone away for him?

2) Two of their most talented skilled offensive players are gone from the roster. Not a single mention in any media outlet. Any idea why Plinke and Dean are gone? Hopefully everything is okay for these guys. I've never seen anyone do what Plinke did in the wildcat last year.

3) The program needs to be self-sufficient this year. This was announced about 7 months ago, and haven't heard it mentioned since. At this point, are they going to have to hope for two FBS games a year? Has PSU given any updates about the status of their self-sufficiency?

Only at the FCS level can so many big news stories come out about a football program and you never really hear anything about them again. Imagine the coverage if they were Beavers or Ducks?
 
Totally agree on the lack of media but thats' old hat for PSU.

Here's what I "believe" is responsive to the 3 issues. Please bear in mind that I have NO connection with the staff so basically I'm going by third hand info I pick up from just hanging around.

1. Onwuasor may have faced some charges but those must be resolved by now. either they were dismissed or dealt with through some negotiated settlement. First time felonies rarely result in jail time.

2. Plinke and Dean. OK this one is easy. Dean was a total distraction, had no interest in anything like going to school or being a team player. Plinke is a nice kid, but kind of a goofball and had no concept of going to class so his grades suffered to the point where he couldn't play.

3. Absolute silence about finances right now. The spring game /golf tourney/ legends game was a zero this year which had to hurt as it was one of our largest fundraisers in the past (that's not saying much but we could use that money}. There have been cutbacks in some areas but also some nice boosts in others. For example, no suits for players this year but lots of new gear from Nike, etc that helps. I'd love to know how we are doing in this regard.

Please bear in mind that this is almost all opinion based on slim info but since that's all we seem to get, I thought I'd pass on the info.

Press release that came out today regarding PSU Football had Victor Dean's name on the 2014 roster. Maybe he will be back this season for his senior year.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong and I just skimmed it while at work, but I only see his name mentioned under last seasons review. If you are thinking because they mentioned him at all and didn't put him on some sort of blacklist I suppose one could think that he may return. But I think that's a stretch. Dean won't be as hard to replace as Plinke.

You will see Victor Dean's name in the Football Season Preview, Tickets On Sale, Practice Begins Sunday article at goviks.com. Check the complete season preview in pdf. It's towards the bottom of the football roster.

No number, but I believe he is trying to work himself back on the roster.

I believe I read in the preseason notes that he is gone. Perhaps he didn't get the redshirt?

According to this, Faddis received the redshirt but decided to leave the team. :-\
