Men’s Soccer

Men’s soccer is headed to the dance (I don’t know what they call the NCAA tournament in soccer, so I’m using the one for basketball). The received the auto-bid into the NCAA tournament by taking down the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship. Congrats to them.

The Hornets advance out of the first round of the NCAA tournament. They won in overtime beating LWU at their place 2-1. Impressive win; now they will have the challenge of playing at regional powerhouse UCLA and trying to knock them off in the second round.

The magical post season ended for the soccer team last night. It was tied 1-1 late in the 2nd half when UCLA got a late goal in the 80th minute to seal it. The Hornets had a great season. Hopefully they can get a run going and make reaching the NCAA tournament a regular occurrence. Great job and well done by both the players and the coaches on the year.
